examinate was entertained to serve in and aboard the said shipp in<br />
the quality of Shipps Carpenter aforesaid, and thereby is confident<br />
and assured of the trueth of the premisses by him predeposed/
To the third Interrogatorie hee saith, That about three weekes since<br />
as aforesaid, there were severall goods wares and merchandises<br />
putt and laden in and aboard the said shipp in the River of<br />
Thames by or on the behalfe of the said John Shorter, consisting<br />
in a quantity of salt, some woollen cloath, a quantity of malt,<br />
some hogsheads of strong beere, a quantitie of pease, some Castor hatts in a<br />
deepe Chest, fower baggs or thereabouts of nailes, five baggs<br />
of hopps, the Lading of which goods and merchandizes on board<br />
the said shipp this deponent saw, and was assistant therein in the<br />
quality of shipps Carpenter aforesaid, and then constantly and<br />
credibly heard and verily beleeveth, that the said severall goods<br />
wares and merchandises were soe laden in and on board the<br />
said shipp for the proper accompt and adventure of him the said<br />
John Shorter to the end and intent to be transported in the<br />
said shipp from this Port of London to Berghen aforesaid<br />
and there to be unladen and disposed of to and for the proper<br />
accompt of him the said John Shorter, as hee severall times<br />
declared and affirmed att and about the time of the Lading thereof<br />
at which hee the said John Shorter was frequently present in<br />
person, and soe much Paul Backman aforesaid then Master<br />
of the said shipp did alsoe at severall times at and about the<br />
time of the said Lading publiquely declare and affirme in the<br />
hearing of this rendent and of the said shipps Companie. And<br />
further to this Interrogatorie hee saith not./
To the fowerth Interrogatorie hee saith, That shortly after the Lading<br />
of the said goods wares and merchandises, and particularly about<br />
three saies after, as hee now remembreth, the said shipp did sett<br />
saile with the same from the said Port of London for Berghen<br />
aforesaid. Which hee knoweth for and upon the reason of<br />
knowledge by him predeposed. And further saith not
To the fifth Interrogatorie hee saith, That the said shipp the ''Charit[y'' GUTTER]<br />
with her said lading of goods wares and Merchandises on<br />
board her being in order to her intended Course for Berghen<br />
betweene Gravesend and Tilbury hope, was surprized and<br />
seized by force by certaine men on board a<br />
small shipp or Vessell, who gave out and declared, That one<br />
Garnett was their Captaine or Commander and that they did<br />
soe seize the said shipp and her Lading by Vertue of a<br />
Commission from the King of Sweden against the king of<br />
denmarke and against his Subjects and their shipps and<br />
