order and hire one John Berry a Pylott, to conduct<br />
and carry the sayd shipp from king roade to hung roade<br />
and that accordingly that sayd shipp arrived there on<br />
the 28th of January 1656 The premisses he deposeth<br />
having his iournall now in his hand, wherein is faithfully<br />
and exactly sett downe every dayes passage of the sayd<br />
shipp during the voyage in question And further he<br />
cannot depose./
To the 12th article he deposeth that during the sayd time the<br />
shipp lay at in hung roade the arlate Mr Broadwick<br />
came thither from London, and that by his order with the<br />
consent of the sayd Croford the greater part<br />
of the goods were taken out, and that at the unlading of<br />
the sayd goods the sayd Broadwick promised that the goods<br />
that were taken out of the sayd shipp showld be putt into<br />
the Masters hands for the security of the Mariners wages<br />
but he saith that the sayd goods were (notwithstanding the<br />
promise) disposed of at Bristoll, and that with the money<br />
or part thereof proceeding from the sayle of the sayd<br />
goods some of the sayd shipps Company had three monthes<br />
pay, though he saith that for his part he never had<br />
or received a monthes pay for or during all the sayd voyage<br />
And he saith that after the greater part of her said goods<br />
was there unladen, the sayd shipp was putt into the<br />
Carpenters hands, and that she was soe defective and<br />
leakie as she was in repayreing about two monthese space<br />
and that during the sayd repayreing many of the sayd<br />
shipps Cabins were pulled downe which was the cause many of the shipps company lay ashore And he deposeth<br />
that without the repayrings there bestowed upon her<br />
she could not have come about for London And<br />
further he cannot depose./
To the 13th he deposeth that during the voyage arlate there was<br />
not any mutiny in the sayd shipp, and that áll and<br />
every of the sayd Mariners did doe their utmost dutyes<br />
and sevice in the sayd voyage. And further to the<br />
sayd article he cannot depose./
To the 14th he saith that there was not any goods brought<br />
in the sayd shipp (while she lay at Bristoll) but what<br />
were taken in, and that she brought safe to London all<br />
goods whatsoever, that were there at Bristoll brought<br />
to her And further he cannot depose.
To the fifteenth he deposeth that he being with the sayd Croford<br />
on the 26th day of August last (being the next day after<br />
the shipps arrivall at Blackwall) the sayd Croford spake<br />
to him this deponent to arrest the sayd shipp in the his the<br />
sayd Crofords name and in the name of her Mariners for<br />
their wages during the sayd voyage then telling this deponent<br />
that they showld not gett their wages without arresting the<br />
shipp And further he cannot depose.
