could to stopp them while they were aboard, but could not effect it,<br />
which Cooper having viewed them did acknowledge before this deponent<br />
and others of the sayd shipps Company that hee could find noe fault<br />
in the stowage of them, but sayd they were made of greene wood which<br />
had caused them to shrinke and thereby become leakie, and gave<br />
this deponent a noate under his hands (which noate this deponent delivered<br />
to the sayd david Young the Master) expressing that the caskes<br />
which were most leakie were were well stowed And further<br />
to this article hee cannot depose/
To the 8th hee saith hee knoweth not how many tonnes of oyle the<br />
sayd Casks conteyned And therefore cannot depose to this article/
To the 9th hee saith hee referreth him selfe to the Registry of this<br />
Court and further cannot depose./
To the 10th hee cannot depose not knowing what dammage the sayd<br />
Younge gath suffered above his principall by not receiving her freight/

and examined saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet./
To the 1: 2: 3 and 4th articles of the sayd allegation and the Charterparty in the<br />
third article mentioned hee saith that in the moneth of ffebruary one thousand<br />
sixe hundred fifty fower English style and during all the rest of the tyme<br />
arlate and untill the seizure of the shipp ''Christopher'' arlate in the moneth of January<br />
1655 English style the arlate hugh Salisbury and Company were commonly<br />
reputed the true and lawfull Owners and Proprietors of the arlate Shipp the<br />
''Christopher'' of Portsmouth and of her tackle and furniture And hee this<br />
deponent being one of the Company of the sayd shipp during the sayd voyage<br />
untill her seizure thereby knoweth that the arlate daniell Bradley was and did<br />
goe Master of the sayd shipp the sayd voyage untill the tyme of such her<br />
seizure, and was (as hee beleeveth made Master of her for the sayd voyage<br />
