three weekes space, and then it pleased God that an English shipp<br />
named the ''Happie ffortune'' (whereof one Pepperell was master)<br />
arived there, and thereat they got passage to the Barbadás.
To the fifth hee saith that the said ninetie foure Negroes at the<br />
said time of such surprizall were very lustie and healthfull<br />
and each and every of them would have at the Barbadás have<br />
yeelded and produced two thousand three hundred pounds weight<br />
of good Barbadás sugar, for at that rate hee saith the said<br />
Pepperell sold his Negroes, which were not for the generalitie soe<br />
good and lustie as those which were seized in the ''Brotherhood'', which<br />
would have come to a very good market had not the said seizure<br />
happened, namely in probabilitie they would have come to Barbadás about the end of March, nowe<br />
a yeere past. And saith that each pound weight of the said sugar<br />
was then at this port (whether the same was to have bin brought)<br />
worth six pence. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the sixth article hee saith that there was at that time of<br />
the said seizure aboard the said shipp ''brotherhood'' belonging to her<br />
master and company a good quantitie of gold and Elephants teeth together<br />
with clothes, sea Instruments and necessaries to a good valew, which<br />
they lost by the said seizure. and thereby this deponent in particular<br />
lost above an hundred and tenn thirteene pounds sterling, besides the produse<br />
and retourne thereof would have bin at and from the Barbadas. And<br />
otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the seaventh hee saith that the said shipp the ''Brotherhood''<br />
at the time of the said surprizall was of the burthen of sixtie<br />
tonnes or thereabouts and was well worth the summe of three<br />
hundred pounds sterling in his estimation.
To the eighth hee referreth him selfe to his foregoeing deposition and<br />
cannot otherwise depose.
