To the third hee saith the weare and tare of shipps in the Brazila<br />
voyages is more than otherwise, and therefore they have the better freight,<br />
and that it is therefore the more, because the voyage is longe and into<br />
a hott countrey. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the fourth hee saith that upon losse of cable or anchor, or cutting the<br />
mast for preservation of goods upon a Portugese voyage (from Portugall), the dammadge<br />
hath bin and may be somtimes recovered upon a Consolado, but<br />
hee never knew any recovered upon a Brazeela voyage, and<br />
otherwise he cannot depose.
To the fifth hee answereth negatively for his part, and otherwise<br />
hee cannot answer, saving some masters having bin treated with<br />
and refusing to goe upon the accustomed manner as aforesaid, the<br />
designe hath bin given over.
To the 6th hee saith that those that goe unto the Brazile<br />
voyage use to give or enter ffiansa or securitia in good summes<br />
before the shipps proceeding, to retourne with the lading to the<br />
dominions of Portugall and pay the kings customs, and saith<br />
the owners or their agents are usually the procurers of the Brazila<br />
voyages, and doe ordinarily enter and give the said fiansa, and<br />
otherwise hee cannot depose, saving as aforesaid.
To the seventh hee saith hee doth not conceive the Brazeela<br />
voyage to be any more dangerous to the master and companies health<br />
than other voyages, and saith that besides their primage and<br />
wages, they have commonly private adventures in the shipp, which<br />
obliges them to the defence thereof. And otherwise hee cannot depose<br />
saving as aforesaid.
To the 8th and 9th hee saith hee is nothing concerned in the matter in<br />
question, but hath bin and is concerned as an owner of other shipps<br />
as aforesaid, and hath somtimes allowed somthing to masters<br />
out of average, somtimes more and somtimes lesse according to his<br />
discretion as an owner, and otherwise hee cannot answer saving<br />
that two hundred crownes was the most that ever hee allowed.<br />

To the 10th hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid, and saving the<br />
master uses to put a peece of eight per day into his account<br />
but it is an the owners discretion to allow it or not.
To the 11th hee saith there is usually from these Northerne<br />
parts to Lisbone allowance to the master and company per pack<br />
or bale of goods namely from England for crosse bound packs or bales of goods six<br />
pence per pack or bale, for each ballet not bound three pence and<br />
for every tonn of other goods eighteen pence, and hee conceiveth<br />
they have the like from other parts, and otherwise hee cannot answer<br />
saving as aforesaid.
