lived in the same house in Sevill where they kept and managed<br />
their affaires of Merchandize, and from May 1653 till about<br />
September 1655 (at which time they were constrained to quit those parts<br />
by meanes of the warrs betweene this Commonwealth and Spaine)<br />
hee lived with them and kept their bookes touching their<br />
commerce, and thereby became very well acquainted with all their<br />
transactions in their traffique.
To the second Interrogatorie hee saith that at the time of the difference<br />
breaking forth betweene England and Spaine in the yeere 1655, the<br />
said Gerrald LLoyd and company had severall debts owing unto<br />
them by severall persons residing in Spaine, And alsoe severall<br />
goods, merchandizes and effects at Sevill, Saint Lucars, Cadiz and<br />
other parts of Spaine, and alsoe household stuffe at Sevill, which<br />
said goods, debts merchandizes, household stuff and effects were of the valew<br />
and amounted to the summe of seaven thousand and nine hundred<br />
pounds, which hee knoweth for the reasons aforesaid.
To the third Interrogatorie hee saith hee still keepeth the bookes<br />
of the said Gerrard Lloyd and companie at this citty and thereby<br />
well knoweth that lately in the present yeere 1656 they sent<br />
severall goods and merchandizes from this port of London to Cadiz<br />
in Spaine in the shipp called the ffortune of hamborough, and [?a GUTTER]<br />
shipp called the ''hare in the ffeild'', amounting to one thousand<br />
seaven hundred, ninetie eight pounds tenn shillings, and hee<br />
the better knoweth the same and the particularities thereof for<br />
that (besides his keeping the bookes and accounts as aforesaid) GUTTER<br />
hee filled up the bills of lading signed by the masters of the said<br />
shipps for the said goods and merchandizes; And saith that upon<br />
arrivall of the said shipps at Cadiz, all the said goods and merchan[?dizes GUTTER]<br />
were (as by certaine advise thense by letters hath bin notified) seized<br />
by the officers aof the king of Spaine, And further saith that<br />
all the debts, goods, household stuff and effects predeposed were<br />
alsoe seized by them before this deponents [?men ?coming] thense,<br />
and are all still detained, and the said mr Lloyd and companie<br />
are dispoiled, of all the foresaid goods merchandizes<br />
debts and effects, whereby they have suffered losse and dammage in the<br />
whole to the valew and summe of nine thousand and six hundred<br />
pounds sterling, which hee knoweth for the reasons aforesaid.
