one of the Judges of the high Court<br />
of the Admiraltie, and examined on<br />
certaine Interrogatories saith and deposeth<br />
as followeth videlicet.
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith that hee well<br />
knoweth the interrogated henry Baldero and William harris and<br />
hath soe donne for theise twenty yeares last and upwards, and<br />
saith thay are English men and Subiects of this Commonwealth<br />
of England and for such commonly accounted, and hee hath often<br />
heard and beleeveth that the interrogated John Shephard was and is<br />
alsoe an English man and a subiect of this Commonwealth, and<br />
for such hee saith the said Shephard was and is in like manner<br />
commonly reputed
To the second hee saith that the shipp the ''Catherine'' interrogated<br />
whereof John Thompson is master, was and is belonging to the<br />
said Baldero, harris and shephard, all Englishmen, and that<br />
they are the sole owners of her, as the said henry Baldero hath<br />
by letters advised this deponent, and further advising that<br />
they bought her in holland, and hee hath by letters ordered<br />
this deponent to accept bills from Newcastle to pay moneys for the<br />
lading of coales there for holland upon and for the account of<br />
him and the sayd mr harris and mr shephard,<br />
owners of the said vessell, and coales, and this deponent hath<br />
accordingly accepted and paid the same for them. And hee further<br />
doth verily beleeve in his conscience that noe dutchmen or other<br />
forreiner what soever hath any share or interest whatsoever in the<br />
said shipp or any part of her, but that shee is wholly belonging<br />
to the said Mr harris, Mr Baldero and Mr Shephard, all English[?men GUTTER]
