To the fourth article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that<br />
hee knoweth not whether there hath bin a custome at Cyprus and<br />
Scanderone by which all goods that are laden aboard shipps, ought to be<br />
delivered by weight, but saith that the masters or pursers<br />
may if they please receive them and see them weighed, being (as hee saith they<br />
are) bound by custome to make deliverie according to the weights mentioned<br />
in the bills of lading, or (for want of such weight expressed in the bills) according to the<br />
factors Invoice. And this hee saith was and is publique and<br />
notorious, and well knowne to all merchants trading to those parts<br />
from London. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 6th hee saith that each kintall maketh one hundred Rotolo's,<br />
that (by usuall computation) every Rotolo is foure pounds<br />
and thirteene ounces Avoir du pois English weight, soe that two<br />
hundred fiftie two kintalls and fourtie foure kintalls and the six<br />
and twenty and eight Rotolos and making thirtie foure Rotolo's<br />
the whole number of kintalls mentioned in the two bills of lading<br />

To the 8th article hee saith that hee hath perused the bills of lading<br />
and Invoices arlate and findeth them to containe soe many sacks or<br />
baggs of galls, and that the neate Turkish weight therein expressed amounteth<br />
in the Rotolo's, as in the said article is expressed, soe that the 470<br />
baggs of galls arlate contained thirtie thousand three hundred and<br />
ninetie Rotolo's, referring himselfe to the said bills and Invoices,<br />
And otherwise hee cannot depose.
