Transcription damage in question happened whicvh shipps damage in question happened whicvh shipps hee saith did ride safe without<br /> any dammage And further hee cannot answere/ To the 4th hee saith it is usuall for the Masters and Companyes of shipps who come<br /> laden innto the River of Thames for their better security to moore their<br /> sjipps fast And saith the ''Imployment'' before and at the tyme shee receaved the<br /> dammage predeposed of was soe fast moored with two Anchors athwart<br /> the River of Thames And further hee cannot answere/ To the 5th hee saith that hee this deponent at such tyme as the shipp the ''Imploy''<br /> ''ment'' came first to anchor neere the ''James and Martin'' did diligently looke<br /> and observe whether any boyes were neere the ''Imployment'' and thereby did observe<br /> that the ''James and Martin'' had then noe boye to her Anchor at least wise<br /> none that appeared above water or would be seene either at high water<br /> or lowe water whereby to give notice where about her Anchor lay And<br /> further saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot answere/ To the 6th hee saith the ''James and Martin'' was at an Anchor when the<br /> ''Imployment'' came first to Anchor neere her, but how longe before shee<br /> had layne there hee knoweth not And further hee cannot answere/ To the 7th hee saith hee hath heard that sometymes boyes and their roapes<br /> have bin cutt of from Anchors of shipps lying in the River of Thames,<br /> by ill disposed persons, without the knowledge of the Masters and Company of<br /> such shipps from whence they are cut, and hath heard that some have<br /> bin punished for soe doeing and further hee cannot answere./ To the 8th hee saith that hee was on board the ''Imployment'' a little<br /> before the dammage happened, but was gone a shoare before it<br /> happened, and returned on board againe within lesse then an hower after and at<br /> his comming found that shee had receaved dammage by the Anchor of<br /> the ''James and Martin'' in manner predeposed And further saving his fore=<br /> goeing deposition hee cannot answere./ To the 9th hee saith hee was present and sawe the Master of the ''Imployment''<br /> pay moneys to divers men who helped to pumpe and bayle the sayd shipp<br /> after shee had receaved the damage predeposed of and sawe hee paid some<br /> of them for the same three shillings a man for every tyde and to others<br /> of them halfe a crowne a man for every tyde for soe workeing upon her<br /> but what the whole summe hee paid them amounted to hee did not<br /> observe nor knowethAnd alsoe saith hee sawe the sayd Master pay<br /> twenty shillings to those who digged to make way for the Carpenters<br /> to stopp the hole made in the bilge of the ''Imployment'' by the Anchor<br /> of the ''James and Martin'' aforesayd And saith hee was by the Master<br /> of the ''Imployment'' aforesayd imployed after the damage in question<br /> receaved in severall [?sorts] of Imploment videlicet to helpe to pumpe and<br /> bayleet to helpe to pumpe and<br /> bayle  +
