(which are alsoe sold by this deponent together with the said three rolls<br />
of tobaccoe) 25 pounds of cloves, one box of lace containing 724<br />
dutch ells, at 8 stivers the ell, two packs of haberdasherie, 28<br />
belts, at 10 gilders and a halfe a peece one with another. 6 dozen of<br />
hatbands, 2 peeces of linnen, containing 63 ells at 3 ''s'' the ell Hollannds:<br />

of the said shipp that hee was to come and depose the truth<br />
in this cause. And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving hee hath<br />
not bin instructed howe or to what purpose hee should depose.

To the third articel of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth<br />
that when the said shipp the ''hare in the ffeild'' came the voyage in<br />
question from haver de Grace bound for Cadiz, hee sawe and<br />
observed and heard it commonly said by the mariners of the shipp<br />
that shee steered right for the Ile of Wight as most<br />
convenient for her course for Cadiz, the winde then considered<br />
which to his remembrance was at North East and by North or<br />
thereabouts, and did not use any endeavour to avoide the English<br />
which hee knoweth being one of her company and then aboard her. And<br />
