To the 3 article hee saith that the sayd T … To the 3 article hee saith that the sayd Thomas Browneing according to the<br />
sayd agreement did take upon him the Master shipp of the sayd shipp the ''ffortune''<br />
and hee the sayd Browneing did with the arlate Richard hasleton<br />
his servant and the rest of his Company whereof this deponent was one about<br />
the moneth of July 1654 proceede on the sayd voyage from this port of London<br />
and arrived in the sayd shipp at Sally arlate in August next following and<br />
there delivered part of her outward Cargo, and thence sayled to Santa Cruse<br />
arlate where shee unladed all the rest of her outward Cargo save twelve Rolls of tobaccoe and there tooke in<br />
new ladeing intending to goe againe for Sally aforesayd but by storme and<br />
fowle weather the sayd shipp ''ffortune'' was foreced into Tittiuan in Barbery<br />
where shee delivered severall passengers and some goods belonging to the<br />
sayd passengers, which done the sayd master and Company endeavoured to sayle the<br />
sayd shipp ''ffortune'' to Sally againe but were by stresse of weather beaten<br />
from their sayles, and forced to Anchor on the back side of Cales arlate<br />
where the sayd shipp lost all her Anchors after shee had ridd there two nights and one day and was forced to put into<br />
Cales for the better preservation of her and her ladeing, where shee delivered<br />
the rest of her ladeing save a small parcell thereof, and the tobaccoe aforesayd upon the 25th day of March<br />
last this hee knoweth being one of the sayd shipps company and on board<br />
and an eye wittnesse of the premisses being alsoe one of the Supracargoes of the sayd shipp the<br />
sayd voyage
To the 4th hee saith hee well knoweth for that hee this deponent was<br />
the sayd Browneings Mate of the sayd shipp and aboard that<br />
the sayd Browneing as Master of the sayd shipp and the arlate<br />
hasleton as a mariner thereof and servant to the sayd Browneing<br />
were on board the sayd shipp and performed their respective duties therein<br />
from the first of May 1654 till the 25th day of March last And<br />
further to this article hee cannot depose/
To the 5th and 6th hee saith hee hath heard the sayd Thomas Browneing demand<br />
of the arlate Tilly and Company the wages due to him and the sayd<br />
hasleton his man, who did deferre the payment thereof<br />
And to the rest hee saith hee referreth himselfe to the Registrie of<br />
this Court and further cannot depose/
To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true/
