hee saith they were left upon the said Ila … hee saith they were left upon the said Iland of Barmunda's, saving two of<br />
them which the said Wadsworth disposed to him that bought the stronge waters<br />
being one Bowler a merchant. The premisses hee deposeth being<br />
masters mate of the said shipp and seeing the said premisses soe donne.
To the fowrth hee beleeveth the said Wadsworth was owner of a wuarter<br />
paart of the said shipp at the time of her casting aforesaid. And otherwise<br />
hee cannot depose.

aged 56 yeares or thereabouts a wittnes sworne<br />
before the right worshipfull John Godolphin doctor of lawes and<br />
Charles George Cock Esquire Judges of the high Court of the Admiraltie<br />
saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet./
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee well knew the shipp the ''hopefull Luke'' Interrogate<br />
the tyme Interrogate and saith shee was then bound forth on a voyage to Virginia<br />
and to returne to the Cittie of London, this hee knoweth for that hee went<br />
Chirurgeon of her that voyage./
To the second Interrogatorie hee saith hee well knoweth that whilst the shipp Interrogated<br />
lay in the Port of London divers goods and Merchandizes were laden aboard the<br />
sayd shipp to be transported to Virginia but whether any of them were for<br />
the Accompt of the Interrogate Wadsworth hee knoweth not And further<br />
hee cannot answere. saving hee saith there were some wearing cloathes and some peeces of callicoe<br />
and bottles of strong waters which were laded on board the sayd shipp for the Accompt of the Interrogated Wadsworth as hee hath heard and<br />
beleeveth
To the 3 Interrogatorie hee saith for that hee went Chirurgion of her the voyage<br />
Interrogated hee knoweth the sayd shipp having receaved her ladeing and amongst other things the cloathes<br />
callicoes and bottles of strong water aforesayd on board her did depart<br />
therewith from this port of London in the moneth of September last was twelvemoneth<br />
and in her direct course for Virginia mett with very tempetious weather<br />
by meanes whereof notwithstanding all the diligence that was and could be used by<br />
the Master and company of the sauyd shipp the sayd shipp was in the moneth of<br />
december last forced upon the Bermudas and was upon the twelveth<br />
day of the sayd moneth staved to peeces upon the rocks, but saith the sayd<br />
cloathes callicoes and bottles of strong water and alsoe some sayles cables and two smale gunnes which were in the sayd shipp were preserved and are<br />
in the hands of one Mr Thomas Richards merchant living in Bermudoes with<br />
whome hee this deponent left them when hee this deponent came thence And<br />
further to this interrogatorie hee cannot depose
To the 4th hee saith the Interrogate John Wadsworth at such tyme as the sayd<br />
shipp ''hopefull Luke'' went from London on the voyage aforesayd was commonly<br />
accompted to be the lawfull owner of a quarter part of the sayd shipp her tackle<br />
apparrell and furniture And soe continued till such her casting away as hee beleeveth<br />
And this deponent hath seene a bill of sale made to the sayd Wadsworth expressing him to be<br />
Owner of a quarter part of the sayd vessell And further to this Interrogatorie hee cannot depose./
