came first aboard her at Saint Malo's about two monethes before her departure<br />

To the fourth, fifth and 6th hee saith that hee was hired to goe with the<br />
said shipp for Spaine, and thence to such place as the said shipp should therein<br />
be imployed or freighted, and saith hee was hired by Peter Martinson the master,<br />
And otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.
To the 7th hee referreth him selfe to his foregoeing deposition and cannot<br />
otherwise answer.
To the 8th hee saith the said Peter Martenson is a dutchman, and that<br />
the company of the said shipp at the time of the said seizure consisted<br />
of about 30 persons or more, of which there were about 7 ffrenchmen<br />
and three of those 7 were maried in holland and keepe<br />
families there as this deponent was informed, hee for his part being<br />
maried to a dutch woman and living there, And saith that about 5 of<br />
the said ffrench were hired in ffrance. And otherwise saving as<br />
aforesaid hee cannot depose.

To the first second and third articles hee cannot depose, for hee saith<br />
hee doth not knowe the shipp the ''Saint Jacob'' arlate nor ought of the<br />
voyage in question.
To the fourth hee saith that hee hath well knowne the producent<br />
William Bolyn de la Gard and hath soe donne for theise tenn<br />
yeares last past, during which space the said producent hath lived in<br />
Amsterdam where this deponent hath dwelt above fifteene yeares and<br />
hath bin there well acquainted with him, and hath heard him say that<br />
albeit hee is a Native of Saint Malo's, yet hee is a Burger of<br />
Amsterdam, and saith that the said producent hath bin for all the<br />
said time and is commonly accompted a Burger of Amsterdam<br />
and there maried, and a subiect of the lords the States of the United<br />
