hee this deponent being at Saint Christofers one of the Charibee Ilands<br />
was there hired and shipped to goe a common man in the said shipp the<br />
''Armes of ffarnambuck'' of Amsterdam then riding there, and being soe hired<br />
by the Skipper [?dowe] hee went there aboard her and this hee saith was<br />
about seaven monethes since. And saith the said shipp departed thence<br />
with about foure hundred goates, to goe and trade therewith at some<br />
free place as the master said, and shaped her course by<br />
Gardalupa, and Martinica, and comming neare the Barbadas inder<br />
saile about two dutch miles from the shore was met with bu the<br />
''dover frigot'' one of the frigots of this Commonwealth, and her boate<br />
commiong aboard, some of the company that came in the boate told<br />
the Skipper of the ''Armes of ffarnambuck'' that hee must bring his<br />
papers and goe aboard the friggott which hee did, and then others<br />
of the boates company being come aboard the said shipp, said that shee<br />
was prize, and that her company must goe aboard the frigot,<br />
and soe the boate comming back that had carried away the skipper<br />
the rest of the company of the ''Armes of ffernambuck'' (saving two<br />
or three) were taken out and alsoe carried aboard the frigot,<br />
which went into Sparksies bay, and there they were turned ashore<br />
and their said shipp and goates were carried to the English to the<br />
Indian Bridge to the English fleete, and were confiscated and<br />
disposed of by the Engish and soe lost to the owners of the said<br />
shipp and goates, and shee was afterwards sold by the English to<br />
kersow [EDITOR: Curacao]. and this seizure hee saith was about six monethes since<br />
and before the said shipp had bin or traded at or received any goods<br />
from any English plantation; And saith the said shipp was a<br />
new shipp of about 125 lasts burthen, but the valew of her or<br />
of her said lading hee knoweth not, and lastly that hee got<br />
passage from the Barbada's for London, the master and the rest of<br />
the company being scattered some one way and some another.<br />
