50 yeares or thereabouts a wittnes sworne andexamined saith<br />
and deposeth as followeth videlicet/
To the first article hee saith that hee well knoweth that the arlate Jonas Shish<br />
during all the tyme arlate and for a longer tyme hath bin a [?Purvider] for tymber<br />
to be imployed for the use of the Navie of this Commonwealth and soe commonly<br />
reputed And further hee cannot depose/
To the 2 and 3 articles hee cannot depose knowing nothing touching the cntents of them
To the 4th hee saith hee cannot depose/
To the 5th 6th and 7th articles hee saith that in the moneth of August 1655 hee this deponent having<br />
some conference with the one Joseph Artys (being the arlate Joseph Artys a party in<br />
this suite) touching certaine plankes amounting to a hoyes loadeing which as<br />
hee sayd hee had bought and were delivered to him, and which as this deponent<br />
hath heard were part of certaine plankes bought by the arlate Jonas Shish<br />
for the use of this Commonwealth and delivered and laded into the hoye of Joseph<br />
[?Waters] in the 4th article of this allegation mentioned at Yarmouth to be delivered<br />
at deptford to the Commonwealths use at their warehouses there) the sayd<br />
Arties sayd that hee had bought the same of the arlate Lawrence Adams<br />
and that the same were turned over to him by the sayd Adams for a debt<br />
due to him the sayd Artis from the sayd Adams for which hee the sayd<br />
Artis sayd hee then had a bond, and that therefore hee cared not much whether the sayd<br />
plankes should be adiudged to belonge to this Commonwealth or to him the<br />
said Artis for that hee the sayd Artis had then still in his hands a bond for his money happen what<br />
would or words to that effect And further to these articles hee cannot depose/
To the 8th 9th and 10th saving his foregoeingd eposition hee cannot depose/
To the 11th hee cannot depose
To the last hee saith his foregeing deposition is true/

To the first hee cannot answere knowing nothing nor having heard ought of<br />

To 2 and 3 hee saith they concerne him not to answere thereto for that they<br />
are directed only to Mr Shish./
