Mariner aged 23 years or thereabouts a witnes<br />
sworne and examined saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet
To the 1: 2: and third and 4th articles of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee<br />
this deponent was and went Carpenter of the arlate ship the<br />
''Concord'' in her last boyage and knoweth that in her sayd voyage<br />
she was a strong and tight shipp and for that hee helped to stowe<br />
her homewards ladeing hee the better knoweth that the same was<br />
well and sufficiently stowed, And hee alsoe saith that the said shipp<br />
in her course homewards for England off of ffleckery upon the coast<br />
of Norway mett with a very violent storme which continued<br />
With ggreat furie for space of eighteene howers and upwards<br />
And hee saith soe great the force and furie thereof was that if often<br />
wrought over the decks with much violence and one wave came with<br />
soe great violence that the same washed away one of the sayd<br />
Shipps company from the mayne yarde, soe that hee perished in the<br />
Ssa and could not be saved, and an other of her company from off of the<br />
quarter deck who by Gods great mercie was recovered on board and<br />
saved, and the same wave alsoe washed away three packs of wooll<br />
that lay upon the quarter dark, and drewe the shipps boats from<br />
her side cleere over the shipp soe that it could not be recovered, and<br />
a;spe heaved a sheate Anchor which was lashed to the shipps side into<br />
the shipp with such violence that by the meanes thereof<br />
and alsoe by the shipps boats being soe drived over as aforesayd, and with<br />
the force of the sea that then brake in upon her the wales of the shipp<br />
were broken, and her seames of her upper decks soe strayned<br />
that they opened whereby shee receaved in much water which<br />
continually washed over deck And hee saith that those things<br />
[?then] happening and the sayd storme still continueing with great violence<br />
the Master and Company of the ''Concord'' thought fitt to [?XXX] and did for the better<br />
securing their owne lived and the sayd shipp and goods voluntarily hurle<br />
over board one Anchor, a payre of graplings a mayne yarde<br />
