the sayd voyage and thereby the better kno … the sayd voyage and thereby the better knoweth that they were well stowed, and<br />
for that hee was on board her during the whole voyage and during the sayd storme and<br />
knoweth shee continued tight noth in and after the sayd storme and that what water shee<br />
receaved was only by the violence of the sea beating and washing over her and<br />
her seames soe opening as aforesayd And further to these articles hee cannot<br />
depose saving hee saith that hee alsoe well knoweth that by the violence of the<br />
sayd storme three packs of wooll were washed off and carried away by the<br />
violence of the sea from off of the Quarter deck of the sayd shipp and<br />
were irrevocably lost./
To the 4th hee saith that being gunner and on board as aforesayd haee well<br />
knoweth that the Master and Company of the ''Concord'' aforesayd did in the sayd<br />
strome doe their faithfull and utmost endeavour to preserve the sayd shipp and<br />
her ladeing by any wett receaved, was not through the fault and neglect of the<br />
Master and company thereof, or any defect or insufficiency of the sayd<br />
shipp, but only through the violence of the sayd storme which caused her<br />
seames of her deck to open as aforesayd whereby the sea washing,<br />
often over her the water sanke downe and ranne in to her through those seames<br />
soe opened, And saith hee is well assured the sayd shipp after the sayd<br />
storme (saving her sayd seames soe opened) was a tight and stronge shipp<br />
And hee is well assured had shee not bin a tight and strong shipp shee had perished<br />
in the sayd storme the violence thereof was soe great And further to this<br />
article hee cannot depose./
