a wittnes sworne and examined saith and deposeth as followeth<br />
videlicet./
To the first article of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee this deponent<br />
was Cooper of the ''Charles'' of London a shipp who roade in Yorke River<br />
in Virginia neere to the arlate shipp the ''hopefull Adventure'', and thereby<br />
being in a boate neare her the ''Adventure'' well observed rgar ger Company<br />
upon the Thursday which was the day next before the leake in this allegation<br />
specified sprang or at least was discovered to be sprung, did worke at<br />
her pumpe, and pumped her drye at two spells that is<br />
about halfe an howers<br />

To the second third and fowerth articles hee saith that the next day after this deponent sawe the<br />
sayd Company soe pumpeing the sayd shipp the ''hopefull Adventure''<br />
sprange a leake and received thereby about five or sixe foote<br />
water in hold, which the arlate Seaverne and Woods perceiving<br />
they procured divers of the Company of the shipp ''Charles'' aforesayd<br />
to helpe them to pumpe, and with much labour cleared her of a great deale<br />
of the water received, and this deponents Contest Robert fflewen<br />
Carpenter of the ''Charles'' aforesayd and the Carpenter and Carpenters<br />
Mates of the ''hopefull Adventure'' searched diligently to find her<br />
leake, but could not at present finde it, it being (as afterwards<br />
appeared soe lowe under water) which the sayd Seaverne and<br />
Woods and other her Mariners perceiving they caused her ladeing<br />
or a great part thereof to be taken out, and then the sayd<br />
Carpenter and mates of the sayd shipp the ''hopefull Adventure''<br />
togeather with the Carpenter of the ''Charles'' aforesayd did againe<br />
search and at last found the sayd leake to be about the Rouge<br />
heads of the sayd shipp about five foote and better underwater,<br />
and that it was an old trumell hole which was rotted<br />
and in which there was much duite and grasse and weedes<br />
which had gathered and bredd therein, this hee deposeth being one<br />
of the Company of the ''Charles'' and being on board the ''hopefull''<br />
''Adventure'' and seeing the sayd Leake, and seeing divers of<br />
