Transcription The 11th of September 1655. [CENTRE HEADINThe 11th of September 1655. [CENTRE HEADING] On the behalfe of two of}<br /> the mariners of the ''Anne''}<br /> ''Bonadventure''} '''Rp.''' '''John Vaughan''' of the parish of Saint Martins in the feild<br /> in the County of Middlesex mariner aged 29 yeares or<br /> thereabouts sworne before the right Worshippfull John Godolphin<br /> doctor of lawes one of the Judges of the high Court<br /> of the Admiraltie saith and deposeth by vertue of his<br /> oath That henry Burges and Thomas Nightingale were of the company<br /> of the shipp the ''Anne Bonadventure'' (William Spencer commander)<br /> and served in her as common men (only the said Thomas Nightingale<br /> was sailemaker) for the space and at the wages as followeth, videlicet<br /> the said Thomas Nightingale from the 17th of June 1647 till the<br /> 20th of January 1648 following according to the English stile<br /> being 19 monethes and three dayes at 27 ''s'' per moneth which<br /> was his wages according to the rate hee was shipt at (as by the<br /> masters booke appeareth), and there is due unto him 25 ''li'' - 15 ''s'' - 6 ''d'' -<br /> for his wages for the said time and after the same rate. And that<br /> to the said henry Burges there is due over and above the<br /> wages that hee hath received the summe of 13 ''li'' - 13 ''s'' and 7 ''d'' for twelve<br /> monethes and 22 dayes, hee having alreadie received 16 monethes wages,<br /> and that the said 13 ''li'' - 13 ''s'' - 7 ''d'' is over and besides the said 16 monethes<br /> wages; And saith that the said henry Burges was shipped at 1 ''li'' 1 ''s'' 6 ''d''<br /> per moneth according to the said masters booke which hee this<br /> deponent hath seene. The premisses hee deposeth being<br /> the said masters servant and acquainted with the said rates, and<br /> having the perusall of the said bookes. And saith the said Nightingale<br /> died the 20th of January 16548 English stile, and before the<br /> pay day and before hee had received any wages, and that the<br /> said henry Burges who went from Gravesend the 17th of June 1647, died<br /> the moneth of November 1649, having received 16 monethes pay as<br /> aforesaid.
