To the 7th 8th and 9th hee saith that<br />
the Consull of the English at Saint Lucar<br />
did in the behalfe of the sayd Keyne speake to one William Painter one<br />
of the company of the shipp the ''Triall'' to serve in the shipp ''John and''<br />
''Elizabeth'' and goe in her to Palma one of the Canary Oslands, but the sayd<br />
Painter did in this deponents presence denye to goe to Palma, but sayd if<br />
the sayd Keene would require his service to goe in her for England hee<br />
would undertake to pilott and conduct her home thither but to Palma hee<br />
would not goe upon any termes whatsoever and this deponent hath heard<br />
some English mariners of a shippw hich was cast away neere Saint Lucar saye<br />
that the sayd Keene did alsoe importune them to goe with him his sayd<br />
voyage to Palma, and that they refused soe to doe but offered him their<br />
service if hee would come for England and this deponent sawe them<br />
afterwards on board the sayd shipp ''John and Elizabeth'' at Saint Lucar ready<br />
to come therein from thence for London with a freight of goods and beleeveth they<br />
and the sayd Painter did accordingly Come in her thence to London as her shipps company<br />
the sayd Paynter as Masters Mate and Pylott and the rest as Mariners And<br />
further hee cannot depose, saving hee saith hee verily beleeveth the sayd<br />
Keene did doe his best endeavour to have procured Mariners to<br />
have gone to Palma but could get none./
To the 10th hee saith hee well knoweth the arlate Mr Watts and knoweth<br />
hee is reputed an English man and a merchant of good<br />
Accompt in Saint Lucar, and hath heard that the arlate Mr Probe is alsoe an<br />
English man and a merchant there of good esteeme And further to this article<br />
hee cannot depose./

To the first hee saith hee cometh to testifie in this cause the truth of his<br />
knowledge being soe required by the producent Mr Keene to whome<br />
hee is noe way related and was none of the Company of the ''John and''<br />
''Elizabeth'' Interrate the voyage in question./
To the second hee saith hee this rendent did (being a Carpenter)<br />
helpe to repaire the shipp Interrogate at Saint Lucar and<br />
make her fitt for a voyage to sea And further saving his foregoeing<br />
deposition hee cannot depose saving hee saith the ayd ship could not<br />
soe well goe to Palma as returne from Saint Lucar to London for<br />
that mariners could not be gott at Saint Lucar to man her to goe to Palma<br />
none being willing to goe thither./
