Transcription To the 9th, 10th and 11th articles of the To the 9th, 10th and 11th articles of the sayd libell hee saith that the sayd Fare during<br /> the whole voyage in question was very carelesse of his office and duties<br /> as a pilott of the sayd shipp and kept noe Accompte of the sayd shipps way as<br /> as a pilott ought to doe, that by that meanes hee might knowe where the shipp was upon all occasions<br /> and avoide such dangers as usually happen by reason of such negligence, and soe<br /> carelesse hee was in that periculer as that in returne of the sayd shipp<br /> homewards from Druntam towards the Downes (some fowle weather<br /> and contrary windes happening which put the sayd Shipp out of her course and<br /> forced her upon the coast of Holland) hee the sayd Fare could not tell where<br /> shee was but being demanded by the Master of the sayd shipp and Company<br /> thereof where or neere what place the sayd shipp was to see what<br /> answere hee would make thereto the sayd Fare could give noe Accompte where the sayd<br /> shipp was but would and did name<br /> places which were (of the knowledge of the Master and Company) twenty or thirty<br /> leagues distant from the place shee was then at when such questions were asked<br /> of him by the Master, soe that by the sayd Fare's carelessnesse and unskilfulllness<br /> the sayd shipp in the sayd voyage both outward bound and homewards ran many<br /> dangers, and lost much tyme in the prosecution of her sayd voyage and thereby<br /> occasioned much damage to the Owners of the sayd shipp in<br /> consuming victualls extraordinary and mens wages extraordinary for<br /> the tyme that was soe lost and spent through his negligence and want of skill to<br /> performe his duty, which damage in this deponents Judgement<br /> and estimate could not amount to lesse then about 40 or 30 pounds<br /> sterling And further to these articles hee cannot depose saving hee saith the<br /> the sayd Fare is an old man and not able in this deponents Judgement, by reason of it, and other this<br /> insufficiencies and carelessnes which this deponent observed him to be much addicted<br /> toin the sayd voyage, to take charge of any shipp or vessell as a pylott thereof<br /> from London to Druntam aforesayd or the ports therabouts./ To the 12th and 13th hee saith he referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition and<br /> to the lawe and further cannot depose./ To the 14th hee saith the sayd Richard Fare is comonly reputed a subiect<br /> of this Commonwealth and is subiect to the Jurisdiction arlate as this deponent<br /> verily beleiveth./ To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true.
