To the first Interrogatory he answereth negatively to all.
To the second and third Interrogatoryes he answereth that he<br />
referreth himselfe to his former deposition And otherwise or<br />
further cannot answeare./
To the fourth Interrogatory he answereth that the interrate Anthony<br />
Streete was in <u>Sally</u> after the shipp interrate was brought in<br />
thither, and that he hath heard the said Streete bemoane his<br />
condition having lost his shipp and being a Captive, but that<br />
he never heard him speake of Alderman ffredeerick, And<br />
further he cannot answeare.
To the fifth Interrogatory he referreth himsewlfe to his former deposition<br />
and further cannot answeare.
To the sixth he answereth that the interrate Street being a Captive<br />
twas improbable how he showld hope to obtaine the release of<br />
his shipp And otherwise cannot answeare.
To the seaventh Interrogatory he answereth that he well knew the<br />
interrate shipp the ''Returne'', that she was of the burthen of<br />

a wittnes produced and sworne and being examined<br />
deposeth and saith as followeth./
To the first article of the sayd allegation given in and<br />
admitted on the behalfe of the sayd John Ashwyn he<br />
deposeth and saith that he this deponent was in the months<br />
arlate a Captive or Slave in New Sally, and that in one<br />
of the said months and to the best of his remembrance in<br />
October 1654 the hull of the shipp in controversy was<br />
brought in there, And that he this deponent was told by some<br />
of those that brought her in, that they found her floating<br />
upon the Sea having noe person aboard her about fower<br />
or 5 Leagues off of New Sally And further he cannot depose.
To the second Article he deposeth and saith that after the<br />
seizure and bringing into Salley the shipp arlate the aforesayd<br />
John Ashwyn did buy her (she being exposed to sale) of the<br />
Gvernour of the place, and that in payment for the said<br />
shipp now in controversy, he the sayd Ashwyn parted with a<br />
shipp called the ''Returne'' and with money to boote. And<br />
he deposeth that he well knowing the said shipp the ''Returne'',<br />
she was worth in his estimation 300 ''li'' lawfull English<br />
money And further he cannot depose.
