The Lord Protector et cetera concerning}<br />
the shipp called the ''Switzer'' (as}<br />
is sayd) of hamburgh}
'''Jacob Hinsey''' of hamborough<br />
Mariner aged about 38 yeares<br />
borne there, as he saith, being<br />
sworne and examined he deposeth and saith<br />
as followeth./
To the first Interrogatory ministred on the behalfe of his<br />
highnesse the Lord Protector he deposeth and saith that<br />
he the Rendent was Master of the shipp the ''Switzer''<br />
interrate at the time of her seizure, and that he hath been<br />
Master of her ever since January last was three yeares<br />
and that he tooke the charge of Master upon him at Marselleis<br />
in ffrance, where the said shipp was bought, she being taken by the<br />
ffrench and carryed thither, and that the Master of her at<br />
the time she was taken by the french was a hamburger<br />
named Jacob Schonmaker, And he saith that he the<br />
Rendent was borne at hamborough, and that the names<br />
of those that made him Master of the sayd<br />
shipp are John Scot[?rinck] Paul Longerman, Joachim<br />
Lawrence and David Sallychover, And<br />
that the sayd Scotrinck and Longerman are hamburgers<br />
And that the said Joachim, Lawrence, and david<br />
Sallychover are of Sangall in Switzerland and<br />
there dwell, And otherwise he cannot answeare.
To the second he answereth that the shipp interrate belongeth<br />
to the Port of hamborough, and that she came last from<br />
thence on the 22th of November last (to his best remembrance)<br />
and that the same persons named in the preceeding Interrogatory<br />
are the Owners of her at present, and that the said<br />
Scotrink and Longerman have lived of this deponents<br />
knowledge at hambrough above twenty yeares, and the<br />
sayd Joachim, Lawrence and David Sallyhover of this Rendents knowledge have lived at<br />
Sangall about twenty yeares; That the said shipp the<br />
''Switzer'' was of his knowledge built at hamburgh In the<br />
yeare 1647; And that the said Scrotrink Longerman<br />
and the sayd Schonmaker were Owners of her at the<br />
time she was first built but he saith he did not see<br />
any money payd for her by the [?new] Owners And further he cannot answeare
To the third Interrogatory he answereth that there belonged to the said<br />
shipp 25 men and boys at the time of her now seizure, And that<br />
all the said shipps Company were hamburgers saving three<br />
french boyes, And to the rest he answereth negatively./
To the fourth Interrogatory hee answereth and saith that the<br />
shipp was at the time of her seizure interrate laden with the<br />
severall goods, of the severall sorts and quantityes mentioned<br />
in a Manifesto therof, which he now exhibeteth and wherunto<br />
he referreth himselfe, And he saith that he doth not know of<br />
any goods laden aboard the said shipp were of the growth<br />
or manufacture of ffrance, or noe, And he further<br />
answereth by vertue of his oath that the said Manifesto now<br />
by him exhibited is true, and that it conteyneth all, and that<br />
noe more or other goods were laden aboard her at Marsellis<br />
