Examined upon the said Allegation:

by London wall Gentleman aged 44. yeares or thereabouts a<br />
Wittnesse sworne and examined saith as followqeth videlicet
To the 1: 2. 3. 4. 5. and 6th Articles of the said Allegation hee saith hee knoweth<br />
nothing thereof./
To the 7th That hee this deponent being upon his occasions at the Isle of Wight<br />
in or about the moneths of ffebruary and March <u>1651</u> English style, did then and there see, observe<br />
and was on board the shipp the ''Elizabeth'' whereof Captaine Stanton was<br />
Commannder, and there and then also saw and was aboard the Vessells called<br />
th ''flagg'' of Truro, the ''hoveling'' and the ''Cooke'' and the ''Mary'' being Prize Vessells taken<br />
and brought in thither by the said Captaine Stanton as was then and<br />
there commonly and generally reported and knowne. And further cannot<br />
depose:-/
To the 8th 9th and 10th hee saith hee knoweth nothing thereof./
To the 11th and schedule therein mentioned and now reade unto this<br />
examinate hee saith, That upon the 29th day of march <u>1651</u> English style, the<br />
arlate Robert Rich being at the West Cowes in the Isle of Wight did<br />
send a letter to the said Captaine Stanton containing an order to the effect in<br />
this present schedule mentioned, whic letter this deponent saw delivered the same<br />
day to the Captaine Stanton, and tooke expresse notice thereof, for that hee<br />
this deponent tooke a Copy thereof, and subscribed the saud Copy togeather with one<br />
George Phipp who was present at the delivery of the said letter, which<br />
this deponent did and doeth preserve and keepe for his memoriall in that<br />
particular. And further cannot depose
To the 12th 13. and 124th hee saith hee knoweth nothing:-
To the 15th hee saith, That in the said shipps or Prize Vessells brought<br />
into the Isle of Wight as aforesaid, there were as this deponent beleeveth 500. Tunns and upwards<br />
of ffrench Wines, which this deponent there saw and observed, and was<br />
sent downne thither expressely by Mr Roger kilvert a Merchant here<br />
to have brought about and disposed of 500. tonnes of the said wines by<br />
order and direction of the said Roger kilvert, And further saith hee knoweth<br />
not, for that hee this deponent upon or about the 19th or 20th day of march<br />
<u>1651</u> aforesaid departed from the Cowes aforesaid leaving the said wines<br />
behind him:-
