To the first negatively saving as aforesaid.
To the second hee saith the dutch vessell never shott soe much as one<br />
shppt small or greate at or towards the ''Martyn'', and saith the goods<br />
soe received upon exchange from the dutch vessell were about 12 Rolls of<br />
tobaccoe, and ten barrells of Indico, one whereof was neere halfe out,<br />
and the dutch had of Captaine Pibus a butt of bread, some fish, some<br />
beefe and some [?XXXXXX]. And otherwise hee cannot depose saving as<br />
aforesaid.
To the third hee saith that the master and company of the said dutch<br />
vessell told Mr Pibus and company that the said dutch vessell belonged<br />
to holland, And otherwise negatively saving as aforesaid, saving the<br />
said two shipps were about 7 or 8 houres together before they parted.
To the 4 hee saith hee conceiveth the said anchor weighed betwixt<br />
foure and five hundred weight or thereabouts, and otherwise hee<br />
cannot depose.

given in the 12th of October 1652.

Merchant, aged 23 yeares or thereabouts sworne<br />
and examined.
To the first eleaventh and 12th articles of the said allegation hee saith and<br />
deposeth that hee well knoweth the producent Thomas Johnsen and hath<br />
soe donne for theise eight yeeres last or thereabouts, and saith hee the<br />
said Thomas Johnsen was and is a native of Rincopen in Jutland in the<br />
Realme of denmarke and for such commonly accompted, and saith his the<br />
said Thomas his father was and is commonly accompted an Inhabitant<br />
and Burgomaster of Rincopen aforesaid, and there the said<br />
Thomas the sonne hath alwayes dwelt saving some small space that<br />
hee travelled into holland in fflanders in the company of this deponent<br />
and further that the said Thomas the producent was and is a subiect<br />
of the kinge of denmarke and for such commonly accompted, and noe<br />
subiect of the States of the United Netherlands or soe reputed; And<br />
lastly that the said Thomas Johnsen when hee went to and was at<br />
Amsterdam, went thither only as a stranger to travell and as a<br />
merchant of denmarke and a forreiner in respect of the Netherlands,<br />
and when this deponent and hee were there together, hee the said producent<br />
and this deponent lodged at the signe of the Prince of denmarke in<br />
the [?Warmer straete]. a victualling house or Inne, being both strangers<br />
in that citie, And otherwise hee saith hee cannot depose.
Upon the rest hee is not examined by direction of the producent.

To the first and 2 hee saith the said Thomas Johnson is a batchelour and<br />
otherwise saving his foregoing deposition negatively, for hee knoweth nothing<br />
as hee saith of the shipp or voyage in question.
