Cittizen and Cloathworker of London aged 40 yeares<br />
or thereabouts a witnesse sworne and examined<br />
upon the Interrogatories on the behalfe of the Lord Protector<br />
deposeth.
To the first Interrogatorie hee answereth negatively to every part thereof
To the second third and 4th Interrogatories hee referreth himselfe to<br />
his foregoeing deposition to the first second and third articles<br />
of the first Allegation annexed to the Commission on the behalfe of the Lord Protector<br />
and which hee made and signed att Portsmouth. And otherwise cannot depose.
To the 5th Interrogatorrie hee saith that the producent did as hee beleeveth really<br />
pay the summe of eight hundred and odd pounds to the Commissioners for the Customes, which was<br />
the whole somme due for the Customes of the said Tobaccoes now in question, and which was<br />
soe paid by the order of the Collectors for dutch prize goods as in part of the whole<br />
somme contracted for and payable to them for the said Tobaccoes, which they by<br />
theire bargaine were and are to allow unto the producents and company which bargaine was<br />
and is that they the said Commissioners should pay and discharge all the Customes due<br />
for and upon the summe in consideration of theire receipt of 4 ''d'' 3 farthings per<br />
pound for the said Tobaccoes, And soe hee saith the said Collectors were by<br />
Contract to allow the said eight hundred and odd pounds to the producents and the producents to pay<br />
soe much the lesse unto them in the whole. Akk hee hath deposed in<br />
his foregoeing deposition to the said Allegation to which he referreth And further<br />
cannot depose./.
To the 6th 7th and 8th Interrogatories hee referreth himselfe to his<br />
depositions to the 4th 5th and 6th articles of the first Allegation to the said Commissioners<br />
annexed to which hee hath deposed his full knowledge herein And otherwise<br />
cannot depose./.
To the 9th hee saith that hee cannot certainly and precisely remember<br />
on what day it was that more than a penny per pound was demanded for<br />
the Customes of the said Tobaccoes but beleeveth it was about the first<br />
of deecember 1652. And saith that the vessell into which the said<br />
Tobaccoes were laden could not have saild from thence therewith at the tyme interrogated<br />
in regard they had not quite finished theire worke and ladeing thereof thereupon<br />
untill about the last of November 1652. And that ymediately after shee was<br />
seized upon and not permitted to [?steere] for Portsmouth untill 6 ''d'' per pound was<br />
paid for the said Customes referring himselfe to his foregoeing depositions<br />
to the said Allegation And further cannot depose./.
To the 10th Interrogatorie hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing depositions to<br />
the said first Allegation And otherwise cannot depose.
To the 11th and 12th Interrogatories hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing<br />
depositions to the 7th 8th and 9th articles of the said Allegation And otherwise<br />
cannot depose.
To the 13th Interrogatorie hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing depositions<br />
to the said Allegation wherein hee hath given particular and full satisfaction<br />
to this Interrogatorie And further cannot depose./
To the 14th hee cannot depose not being present at the tyme interrogated
