Poore servant to Mr Philipp Richaut, borne at<br />
Dunkirke and aged about 18 yeares, being sworne<br />
and examined he deposeth as followeth.
To the first and second articles of the sayd Libell he<br />
deposeth and saith That he this deponent hath lived<br />
with the arlate Mr Philip Richaut for about these two<br />
yeares last as his servant, and that therby he well knoweth<br />
that the said Richaut and Company were in the<br />
months arlate videlicet in the monthes of November, December<br />
January and ffebruary 1653 and alsoe before and at this<br />
present ought to bee the lawfull Owners and Proprietors<br />
of the arlate shipp the ''ffortune of the sea'' now called<br />
the ''Post'' and of her tackle, apparrell and furniture<br />
and that the sayd shipp was sett out by the sayd<br />
Richaut and Company in the months arlate on a<br />
voyage from this Port of London to Roane in ffrance<br />
and that she safely arrived there for the account of<br />
them the sayd Owners, The which he knoweth having<br />
received intelligence therof by Letters from his precontest<br />
Peter Powles the then Master of her And further<br />
he cannot depose.
To the third article he deposeth and saith that after the<br />
safe arrivall of the sayd shipp At Roane, she was<br />
seized upon by ffrenchmen and afterwards condemned<br />
Prize there in ffrance, and therby the lawfull Owners<br />
of her were dispoyled and robbed of her, The<br />
premisses he well knoweth having received, seene and<br />
read many Letters of aadvice therof sent to the saud<br />
Mr Richaut And further he cannot depose.
To the fourth and fifth articles of the sayd Libell<br />
he deposeth and saith, That since the comming of the<br />
said shipp into the River of Thames the arlate Philip<br />
Richaut and Company have arrested her as Owners<br />
of her, and that one Mr Barr a ffrenchman hath<br />
putt in bayle, and that therby she is discharged<br />
from the sayd arrest And that he very well<br />
knoweth, that the sayd shipp cakked the ''ffortune of''<br />
''the sea'' and now called the ''Post'', which since her<br />
comming into this River hath bin arrested by the<br />
sayd Richaut and Company, is the very same<br />
shipp the sayd Richaut and Company sent out upon<br />
a Voyage for Roane and which was there soe seized<br />
and condemned, as he hath predeposed The premisses<br />
he knoweth for that he was frequently a board her<br />
berfore her sayd voyage to Roane and hath bin<br />
aboard her since her now comming into this River of<br />
Thames And further he cannot depose.
To the last he saith his former deposition is true./
