To the first article of the first allegation hee saith and deposeth that<br />
the Commissioners for dutch prize goods residing here at London<br />
gave this deponent their deputie at Portsmouth order to deliver the<br />
tobaccoes in question to the use of the arlate Wainewright and Jefferies<br />
about or shortly after the 4th of November 1652,<br />
and therefore hee beleeveth that the sale thereof was made to them<br />
by the said Commissioners on or about the day arlate, And otherwise<br />
hee cannot depose.
To the second article hee saith and deposeth that hee verily beleeveth<br />
there was noe more paid or payable for the customes of such tobaccoes<br />
(as those in question were) the time arlate than 1 ''d'' per pound, nor<br />
did hee ever knowe more paid for such tobaccoes. And otherwise<br />
