Examined upon certayne Interrogatories on<br />
the behalfe of his highnes the Lord Protector
'''Heyman ffredrickson''' of Amsterdam<br />
mariner master of the sayd shipp the ''Saint''<br />
''Jacob'', aged fifty yeares or therabouts<br />
a witnesse sworne and examined saith and<br />
deposeth by vertue of his oath as followeth videlicet.
To the first Interrogatory this deponent saith the sayd shipp the<br />
''Saint Jacob'' doth belong to the Port of Amsterdam in holland and<br />
not to any Port or Place in ffrance, and the Owners of her<br />
when she was seized were and still are, Paulus Byscop<br />
Jacob Taminoa Jacques Martin, Obbe Volkers Claes Nenes<br />
Gerart van Herling Swere Asswereson, Arnoll van Aerden<br />
Jan Volkers, Allert Volkers, Mary Claus, Mary Stoffells,<br />
Cornelius Coster Abraham Jacobs and this deponent<br />
all Burghers and Inhabitants of Amsterdam, And further<br />
saith that there was on board the sayd shipp att the tyme of<br />
her seizure thirteene hundred and an halfe and five bushells<br />
of salt french measure each hundred measure making about<br />
twelve lasts, and noe other merchants goods and the sayd salt<br />
then did belong to merchants of ffrance inhabiting at havre<br />
de Grace and other places in ffrance being subiects of the<br />
ffrench King, but their names he cannot specify and<br />
further saving his subsequent depositions cannot depose.
To the second he saith the sayd salt was laden at [?Bruaye] in<br />
ffrance a place neere to Rochell by Monsier Avisé a<br />
french man and subiect of the king of ffrance, and the<br />
sayd ship ''Saint Jacob'' came last from Bruaye aforesayd, and was<br />
bound directly to Haver de Grace in ffrance. And further<br />
saith not.
To the third Interrogatory he saith there were on board the sayd shipp<br />
att the tyme of seizure a Cocquett and a Charterparty and<br />
he delivered them both to the Captaine that made the seizure<br />
and hath since seene the same in the Registry of this Court<br />
and referreth himselfe to the Contents thereof and saith<br />
the same were delivered to him by the sayd Lader, and<br />
otherwise negatively. And further cannot depose:.
To the fourth he saith his foresayd Owners who are all of Amsterdam<br />
and have their familyes there, and are all hollanders borne by<br />
common repute, did constitute this Rendent master of the sayd shipp<br />
and gave him order and Instructions for this voyage<br />
