To the 3. 4. 5. 6. 7th. he saith that Jero … To the 3. 4. 5. 6. 7th. he saith that Jeronimo Brudgans aforesayd partowner of the sayd<br />
moneys and plate sent the sayd moneys to the shipps aforesayd in the boate of Peter<br />
[?Claeson] a Spaniard named for lader in the bills of lading, and this deponent<br />
and Diego Maestre aforesayd both fflandrians accompanied the same aboard<br />
and saw the same laden as aforesayd; and he saw the bills of lading signed for the<br />
moneys interrate but not for the barrs of sylver. And saith the Bills interrate<br />
are true and not false or colourable. And moreover saith the masters of<br />
the shipps respectively made entryes of the sayd moneys with the markes and<br />
numbers in a booke conformable to which entryes the Bills of lading<br />
for the same were drawne upp. And otherwise saving his foregoeing<br />
depositions he cannot depose.
To the 8th he knoweth not nor beleiveth any part thereof.
To the .9.th he saith the sayd moneys and plate he is well assured doth belong to<br />
the producents onely and to one else. and the sayd shipps were bound onely<br />
for Ostend and not to any other port. and otherwise negatively.
To the 10. 11. 12. and 13th he saith that the sayd Jeronimo Brugmans showed this<br />
deponent a letter of Advise from his sayd partner Christian Aelst to the effect<br />
predeposed, and likewise told this deponent that the money and plate now claymed<br />
was the goods of himselfe and the sayd Aelst and gave order to his sayd<br />
servant Diego Maistre in this deponents presence to see the same laden for<br />
the Accompt aforesayd, and upon the adventure of him the sayd Brugman<br />
and the sayd Aelst. and saith the sayd Burgmans told this deponent att<br />
Cadiz that part of the sayd sylver and plate was the proceed of effects<br />
of bone lace and other merchandises of fflanders abiding in his hands<br />
and that for the residue thereof he had according to order receyved as<br />
aforesayd from his sayd copartner in the sylver now claymed, drawne bills<br />
of exchange upon him to be satisfyed and payd att Antwerpe. And further<br />
he cannot depose.
To the 14th he saith he hath noe interest in the moneys and sylver now claymed<br />
nor will the restitution thereof be any benefit to him. And saith he was<br />
borne and liveth att dunkirke in flanders.
To the 15. 16. 17. and 18th he knoweth nothing thereof.
To the nyntenth he saith he hath allready satisfyed.
To the 20th. he cannot depose otherwise than he hath predeposed.
To the 21th he cannot depose.
To the 22th he saith the money and sylver interrate was all of it laden under<br />
the power and Command of the fforts of Cadiz, And he knoweth not of any<br />
license or Cocquett for the same.
To the 23 and 24th. he saith that he was present when the bills of lading<br />
for the moneys aforesayd were signed, and well remembreth that one<br />
of either tenor was left in the Custody of the masters of the sayd shipps<br />
respectively. and that Diego Maistre being then present receyved<br />
two of eyther tenor and brought them ashoare and there delivered them<br />
to his sayd Master as aforesayd, but whether the sayd masters of the shipps delivered<br />
onely two of eyther tenor to Diego Maistre and reserved one on their owne hands respectively.<br />
or whether they delivered all three of each severall tenor, and the sayd<br />
Diego Maestre returned back one of them to the sayd masters respectively, this<br />
deponent remembreth not. And further he cannot depose.
To the Interrogatories in the second place. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the 1. and .2. he saith that he beleiveth it to be unlawfull to carry money<br />
and sylver out of Spaine without license obtained for the same by the<br />
