The Clayme of Edward Peters of Antwerpe for his}<br />

Examined upon an Allegation on the<br />
behalfe of the said Claymers:/:-

and Cashier and Booke-Keeper of the said Edward Peters<br />
aged thirtie yeares or thereabouts a Wittnesse sworne<br />
and examined saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet:-
To the first article of the said Allegation hee saith and deposeth, That the arlate<br />
Edward Peters the producent is a Merchant of Antwerpe, who for theise five or 6<br />
yeares last past of this deponents Certaine knowledge hath driven a Constant trade<br />
to Cadiz Saint Lucar and other parts of Spaine for silver and other goods and<br />
Merchandizes, and for the expedition of his affaires in those parts, hee hath<br />
diveres Agents ffactors or Correspondents residing there, And for such a Merchant<br />
so tradeing and dealing the said producent for all the time predeposed hath bin and<br />
is commonly accompted and reputed, The premisses hee well knoweth being<br />
Cashier and booke-keeper to the said producent for all the time predeposed<br />
and by that meanes well acquainted with all his negotiation. And further saving<br />
his following deposition hee cannot depose:-
To the second and third articles of the said Allegation,<br />
That in the yeares 1651. and 1652. arlate, and the moneths therein respectively<br />
concurring or some of them the said Edward Peeters, did send from Oastend<br />
in fflanders diverse and sundry parcells of goods and Merchandizes, videlicet of Ryssell<br />
stuffs, flemmish Lace, and Linnen to the value of 16000. pounds flemmish or<br />
thereabouts, for his owne accompt, to the arlate John Lamotte William Jansen<br />
and others his ffactors and Correspondents at Cadiz in Spaine with instruction<br />
to them to sell and dispose of the same for his use and advantage, and to make<br />
him retournes thereof in silver bullion and peeces of eight; Which said goods and Merchandizes<br />
the said ffactors received, and Certified the said producent by letters of advise<br />
sent over land of the receipt of the same, And that according to his directions they<br />
would make him retournes thereof in bullion coyne and plate, Which this deponent<br />
knoweth being as aforesaid Cashier and Booke keeper to the said producent, and<br />
having Copied seene and perused the letters of advise passing betwen the said producent<br />
and his said ffactors to the effect aforesaid, and having entred the goods and<br />
Merchandizes aforementioned into the said producents booke of accompts at the<br />
severall and respective times of their sending, And he further deposeth<br />
That in the moneths of July August September and Octoober in the yeare<br />
1652. or thereabouts, the said producent by his said ffactors did lade or cause<br />
to be laden on board the shipp the ''Salvador'' (whereof the arlate Christian<br />
