Examined upon an allegation on the behalfe of the<br />
sayd Pedro Michelson.
'''Robert Demetrius''' of the parish of<br />
Saint Andrew Undershaft London merchant<br />
aged 23 yeares or thereabouts a witnes<br />
sworne and examined deposeth and saith as<br />
followeth. videlicet
To the tenth article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith that the arlate<br />
Peter Michelson long before the sayd shipps ''Sampson'' ''Salvador''<br />
and ''Saint George'' were seized by the shipps of this Commonwealth<br />
did write over from Antwerpe to the arlate James Stanier here<br />
in London, and that he Certifyed him that he the sayd Michelson had<br />
receyved advise and intelligence from his factors and Agents att<br />
Cadiz and Saint Lucar that they had laden severall parcells of<br />
sylver, (meaning the sylver now Claymed as this deponent doth<br />
Conceyve) on board the sayd shipps ''Sampson'' ''Salvador''<br />
and ''Saint George'' for his use and accompt and desired the sayd<br />
James Stanier that in case the sayd shipps or any of them happened<br />
to be seized by the Parliament shipps, that then he should Clayme<br />
the sayd sylver for his the sayd Michelsons use and accompt which advise the sayd James Stanier<br />
did here in London receyve in a letter from the sayd producent before<br />
such tyme as the sayd shipps were taken of the knowledge and<br />
certayne remembrance of this deponent who being the servant<br />
and apprentice and Cashier of the sayd James Stanier saw and perused<br />
the sayd letter here in London in the Custody of his sayd<br />
Mr James Stanier before the tyme of the seizure in question and<br />
otherwise he saith he cannot depose.
Upon the rest he is not examined by direction of the Proctor of the producent.
To the Crosse Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the 1. negatively.
To the .2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. and 10th Interrogatories he saith that he knoweth<br />
ffrancisco de la Sierpe interrate and so hath done for 5 yeares or thereabouts<br />
and saith he liveth att Cadiz and is by report a fflandrian borne<br />
att Ostend. and saithh he hath knowne the producent by Correspondence[?y]<br />
about 6 yeares, and not otherwise and he as by his letters doth<br />
appeare, lived att Antwerpe, and is reputed to be a fflandrian.<br />
and further having not bene att Cadiz nor seene the sayd sylver<br />
laden , nor bills of lading for the same signed he cannot depose.
To the 11th. negatively to every part thereof.
To the 12th. and 13th. he saith he knoweth nothing thereof.
To the 14th. he saith that in the yeare 1649. and about the 19th day<br />
