about the beginning of the mneth of October 1652 the arlate Paulus<br />
Cobrisse did for his owne use and Accompt by his factors and Agenta att<br />
Cadiz lade aboard the sayd shipp the ''Salvador'' whereof Christian Cloppenbergh<br />
arlate was and is master all and singular the plate sylver and moneyes<br />
above specifyed and in the sayd bills of lading mentioned, to be carryed and<br />
transported from Cadiz to Ostend iin fflanders and there to be delivered to<br />
the sayd Paul[?y] Cobrisse or his Assignes for his use and Accompt, all which<br />
This deponent knoweth for that he saw the ffactors of the sayd producent<br />
videlicet Pedro Calvo and Pedro Navarro Inhabitants of Cadiz putt the<br />
passe off therewith toward the sayd shipp ''Salvador'' riding att an anchor in<br />
the bay of Cadiz, and att theirreturne toshoare saw in their hands a<br />
note of rerceipt for the sayd moneyes plate and sylver uner the hands<br />
of Christian Cloppenbergh, and afterwards saw bills of lading firmed<br />
for the same upon the Accompt aforesayd. And otherwie cannot depose.
To the fourth article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith and deposeth that<br />
after the lading of the sayd moneyes plate and sylver as aforesayd the<br />
arlate Christian Cloppenbergh in the presence and sight of this deponent<br />
signed nine bills of lading for the same that is to say the sayd three bills of<br />
lading to the allegation annexed and two more of each of the sayd bills of lading<br />
of the same tenor, and saith that the sayd Christian Cloppenbergh had<br />
one of each of the sayd bills of lading along with him in his sayd shipp<br />
and thaat other two of each of them were left in the hands of Pedro Calvo<br />
the producents sayd factor, and that the three bills of lading annexed to the<br />
sayd allegation were and are three of the bills of lading so left with the<br />
sayd factor who since the tyme of the firming thereof sent the<br />
same by Land to Bridges in fflanders in a letter to Paulas Cobrisse<br />
who receyved the same accordingly and brought them to this Citty as<br />
himselfe acquainted this deponent. And further saith that the sayd<br />
three bills to the allegation annexed were and are truely and really signed with<br />
the proper handwriting of the sayd Christian Cloppenberg in manner<br />
as he hath predeposed. And otherwise cannot depose.
To the fifth article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith and deposeth that<br />
after the lading of the sayd moneyes and sylver in manner as aforesayd<br />
the sayd shipp the ''Salvador'' sett sayle from Cadiz and in her Course therewith<br />
towards Ostend was seized by some of the shipps of this Commonwealth<br />
And saith att the tyme of seizure the the sayd sylver and moneyes were aboard<br />
the sayd shipp, and three bills of lading for the same, and came into<br />
the possession of the Captaine who tooke the same; which this deponent<br />
knoweth sayling along in Company with the ''Salvador'' aforesayd, aboard<br />
the shipp ''Saint George'' taken also by the English shipps. And saith he<br />
beleiveth that the three bills of lading for the sayd sylver and plate<br />
found aboard the sayd shipp are now abiding in the Registry of this Court And<br />
further cannot depose.
To the sixth article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith That by common repute and<br />
fame the arlate Paulas Cobrisse is a fflandrian borne, and a merchant<br />
