Middlesex Mariner late Masters mate of the shipp the<br />
''Plough'' aged 49 yeares or thereabouts a witnes<br />
sworne and examined deposeth and saith as followeth<br />
videlicet.
To the first second and third Articles This deponent saith that for all the tyme<br />
arlate the sayd Philip Noyes and Company all English men were<br />
Owners of the sayd shipp the ''Plough'' and so are att present, and that<br />
the sayd shipp in the yeare 1652 being bound into the East Countrey<br />
the sayd Philip Noyes went Master of her and that in pursuance of the<br />
sad voyage the sayd shipp came safely to Dantzyck in May 1652<br />
and about the end of the same month to Riga and that there in or about<br />
the month of June 1652 the sayd Phillip Noyse did buy and for his<br />
owne accompt lade aboard the sayd shipp two last and eight [?LipXXX]<br />
of fflax worth 103 ''li'' (valewing the sayd goods att the rate they were att<br />
that tyme sold for in London) on last and 1/2 of hempe worth 51 ''li''<br />
seven long deales worth 2 ''li'' 9 ''s'' 13 '''C''' and 1/2 of Clapboard worth<br />
81 ''li'' and 12 ''C'' of pipestaves worth 14 ''li'' 8 ''s'' and that the sayd Noyse<br />

Instruments aboard the sayd shipp worth 100 ''li'' sterling over and besides<br />
three wainscotts worth 30 ''s'' which this deponent had on board the sayd<br />
shipp for his owne accompt, All whch goods and other things were in the sayd shipp to<br />
be from Riga transported to London for the accompt and use of the<br />
sayd Phillipp Noyes and his mariners according to their respective<br />
Interest, And saith that the sayd goods being soe laden the shipp ''Plough''<br />
sett sayle from Riga and in August 1652. came safely with the said<br />
goods in her to Copenhagen in Denmarke, all which he knoweth<br />
for that he was masters mate of the sayd shipp the voyage in question<br />
and saw the sayd goods laden, and the premisses so had and done as<br />
aforesayd. And otherwise cannot depose
To the fourth fifth and sixth articles of the sayd allegation he saith that the<br />
sayd shipp ''Plough'' was a staunch and well built shipp and of the burthen<br />
of 100 last and upwards, (she having the sayd voyage from Riga [?101]<br />
last of merchants goods on board her over and besides the goods aforesayd<br />
and had 12 gunnes and furniture and tackle and munition requisite<br />
and was worth in this deponents judgement the summe of 1400 ''li''<br />
sterling or thereabouts with her gunnes and appurtenances. and saith<br />
that the shipp continueing att Copenhagen till September 1652<br />
was then embargoed or stayd by authority of the King of Denmarke<br />
and there deteyned till ffebruary 1652. and was then with [?XXX]<br />
goods Clothes bedding Instruments and things aforesaid absolutely seized<br />
in to the hands of the sayd King by his officers by meanes whereof not<br />
onely the foresayd goods Clothes and other things are become lost to the<br />
true Owners thereof, but allso severall other dammages to a great<br />
value of 123 ''li'' sterling or thereabouts, and losse of the sayd shipps<br />
ymployment to the value of 70 ''li'' per month over and besides the losse of<br />
tyme and expenses in travayle fyr England of Master and Mariners to the<br />
