The 14th of November 1653 uppon the allegation<br />
made on the behalfe of Suckleyes Clyents

merchant aged one and fortie yeares or<br />
thereabouts a witnes produced and examined<br />
in this Cause Deposeth as followeth videlicet.
To the first article of the said allegation he sayeth an deposeth That he<br />
hath knowne the arlate John ffaltzbergh and Phillip Roerliffe arlate<br />
for theis twoe yeares last past whoe for all the said time have beene<br />
and yet are comonly reputed and knowne to be Inhabitants of Staten<br />
in Pomerland under the Queene of Sweden arlate and sayeth the saud<br />
ffaltenbergh Roerliffe and some others of Statenie have beene and still are<br />
comonly reputed the lawfull owners and Proprietors of the Shipp the<br />
''greate Christopher'' arlate her tackle and furniture And further to this article<br />
saveinge his subsequent answeares and Depositions he cannot Depose
To the second article hee deposeth and sayeth That in or about the moneth of<br />
July 1653 arlate the Shipp the ''greate Christopher'' arlate was taken to<br />
freight by the arlate Harman Becker and Tillman Bremer<br />
merchants of Riga aforesaid to carry hempe and other goods from thence<br />
to Dunkirke whether they were consigned to Abraham van Hogard and<br />
Phillipp de Pape to be by them directed to London which he knoweth<br />
for that hee this deponent upon the freighting of the said shipp at<br />
Riga aforesaid comeinge Passinger in the said Shippe and haveinge<br />
some goods of his owne aboard her told the foresaid Herman Becker<br />
That he this deponent should stand in need of some money att the said<br />
shipps arrivall att Dunkirke and that unlesse hee did furnish<br />
him with letters of Recommendation That possibly hee this Deponent might by<br />
necessitie to sell his this deponents comodities at an under rate or<br />
valew or to that purpose whereunto he the same Harman Becker reply?ing]<br />
told this deponent That He this deponent [?neither] nor fore any such thing<br />
or that his goods should come to a badd markett ffor that as he sayed<br />
the said Shipp was to goe to Dunqurke and from thence directly for London although the<br />
Charter party was made for dunquirk, which hee told this deponent<br />
was done purposely that the Shipp and goods might not become a prize<br />
to the Hollander or used words to the same effect and purpose And further<br />
