when the said ''Sampson'' and her Ladeinge … when the said ''Sampson'' and her Ladeinge were brought into the River of Thames<br />
there remayne as he beleiveth
To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first Interrogatory he answeareth That as hee remembreth from the tyme that the said Shipp the<br />
''Sampson'' sett sayle from Cadiz as afforesaid untill her being Stayed by the Man of Warr<br />
predeposed the foresaid Roderiguez and [?Marchado] was onboard the said Shipp the ''Sampson''<br />
about 60 dayes about which time hee was likewise aboard the Shipp the ''Salvador'' which<br />
kept the ''Sampson'' companie dureing all the voyage predeposed And otherwise referring himselfe to<br />
his former depositions he cannot depose
To the second Interrogatory hee answareth That hee hath allready satisfyed the contents of<br />
this Interrogatory in his foregoeing depositions whereunto hee referreth himselfe and further<br />
cannot answeare
To the 3d Interrogatory hee answareth That hee well knoweth That the forenamed Roderiguez and<br />
Ma[?rchado] were and are the lawfull owners and Proprietors of the Tobacchoe interrate for that hee was present<br />
at Var[?nas] afforesaid when the said Roderiguez and Ma[?rchado] bought the Tobacchoe of<br />
certaine of the Inhabitants liveing at Varinas whose names were and are ffrancisco [?de] [?More] Juan Pays and ffrancisco Hurtado And<br />
sayeth the Tobaccho was bought after the rate of eight peeces of eight per Roove att<br />
Varn[?as] from whence it was carried by [?land] and imbarqued at [?Mararaoo] as afforesaid And further<br />
to this Interrogatory more then what hee hath predeposed hee cannot say
To the 4th Interrogatory hee answeareth That the Tobaccho predeposed was laden att<br />
Cadiz by the foresaid Roderiguez and [?Marcado] afforesaid by themselves and by none other<br />
person [?XXXX] further cannot say
To the 5th Interrogatory hee answeareth That the Tobacchoe interrate was delivered out of one shipp<br />
into an other as is predeposed and further cannot say Saveing his former<br />
depositions
To the 6th hee referreth himself to his former depositions and further cannot answeare
To the 7th Interrogatory hee answeareth That hee hath satisfyed the particular contents of this Interrogatory<br />
in his precedent depositions And further cannot answeare saveing That for his part he [?really]<br />
beleiveth and is perswaded in his conscience That the Bill of Ladeing predeposed being shewn<br />
unto him at the time of his examination was and is a reall and true Bill of Ladeing<br />
and not colourable and fictitious.
To the 8th hee annsweareth That hee knoweth of none other bills of Ladeinge for the<br />
Tobaccho predeposed which were signed by the foresaid Octavio George but the Bill of<br />
Ladeinge interrate and twoe more of the same tenor And further cannot answeare
To the 9th Interrogatory hee answeareth That he hath not any interest by [?XXXX] or otherwise in the<br />
Tobacchoe predeposed and is not any way concerned therein whether it bee condemned<br />
or restored And further referringe himselfe to his foregoeing depositions hee cannot<br />
answeare
To the 10th Interrogatory hee answeareth That John Baptista Sab[?XXX] interrate did come<br />
in company from [?Varnas] with this rendent and the producents afforementioned And<br />
came likewise from Cadiz with them in the ''Sampson'' interrate and had a quantity of<br />
Tobaccho[?e OR ?s] aboard the said Shipp for his owne accompt but knoweth not of any interest which<br />
bee [?hath] in or to the Tobacchoes predeposed
To the 11th Interrogatory hee sayeth That for any thing this rendent knoweth or beleiveth The Tobaccho<br />
interrate should have beene unladen and delivered att Oastend and noe other Port neither<br />
doth hee know or beleive that the said Tobaccho[?s] should have been transported from Oastend to any<br />
other Port
To the 12th he cannot answeare not knoweing where the said Shipp the ''Sampson'' did<br />
firsthipp the ''Sampson'' did<br />
