Soaine Merchant aged 22 yeares or<br />
thereabouts. sworne and examined.
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that hee was only a<br />
passenger in the said shipp the ''Salvador'' and came first aboard her at<br />
Cadize, and that seaven butts of wine aboard her marked '''CL''' and two<br />
barrells of [?lemmons] unmarked were and are belonging to this deponent<br />
and were laden by his order at Cadiz for his owne accompt and hee went alonge<br />
in the shipp passenger to sell the said wine at Ostend whither it was<br />
consigned, but touching the rest of her lading or to whom the samw or<br />
any part thereof was or is belonging, hee saith hee knoweth not<br />
and otherwise cannot depose.
To the second hee saith the said Skipper Christian Cloppenbergh<br />
signed a bill of lading for this deponents said wines, which this deponent<br />
hath had alwaies since in his custodie, and nowe leaveth the same for<br />
the information of this Court touching his said proprietie, but<br />
for his lemmons being things hee intended to bestowe upon freinds<br />
hee tooke noe bill for them. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the third hee saith hee cannot depose, saying hee tooke noe notice<br />
of any bookes aboard or of any bill saving his owne bill aforesaid.
To the fourth hee cannot answer, saying that hee came not aboard the<br />
said shipp [?XXX] to Cadiz above halfe a dayes space before shee sett<br />
forth
