Company and consortshipp with the shipp the ''dragon'', being both men of warr<br />
and in the imediate service of the Parliament of England, and lying in the Bay<br />
of Galloway, espied a shipp comeing from thence, being the Enemies quarters<br />
did make after her with the said shipp the ''dragon'', and did make the first shott att<br />
the said shipp, and in [XX] and the Company thereof defected the said<br />
shipp and went on shore, Imediately after which hee saith that the Company of the<br />
''dragon'' did first board the said shipp, and then the Company belonging to the<br />
''Peregrine'' went also aboard the said shipp, and did then and there<br />
take her as prize and had equall plunder and share of the pillage of the shipp,<br />
And hee saith that by the bills of ladinge and other writings which they found abord<br />
the said shipp she was called by the name of the ''ffortune'', and belonged to [XXXXX]<br />
or some Port in Zeland,. Which seizure as aforesaid was made in or about the<br />
monthes of July or August 1650 and the said shipp was carryed by the ''dragon'' aforesaid into some of<br />
the Parliaments quarters in Ireland where she was condemned and sould for prize, And<br />
this deponent saith that afterwards hee this deponent as Master of the ''Peregrine''. and the rest<br />
of the Company thereof had theire share of the said prize duly paid or allowed<br />
them, And further hee saith hee cannot depose./

Mariner aged 41 yeares or thereabouts, master<br />
of the said shipp the ''houlter Church'', being<br />
of the sort there called Monists and here Anabaptists, and<br />
therefore refusing to lay his hand upon the Evangelists,<br />
undertooke and promised before the right Worshippfull William<br />
Clerke doctor of lawes one of the Judges of the high Court of<br />
the Admiraltie to speake the truth upon his examination on<br />
the Interrogatories given in this busines in the name and as in the<br />
presence if Almightie God, and then being examined upon<br />
the said Interrogatories, saith and deposeth as followeth, [XXXXXX].
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that the said shipp the<br />
''houlter Church'' or ''B[XXXX] houter kirke'' belongeth to the port of Serdam in holland, and that<br />
hee this deponent, John Johnson ?Roge, John ffrederickson, Claus<br />
Cornelison, William Claeson and others of Serdam and two or three of<br />
Edam and one Peterson master of Amsterdam being in number 43 persons<br />
and all dutch men and subiects of the States of the United Netherland<br />
pr[XXXXXXX] and not one of them ffrench were and are the true and lawfull<br />
owners and proprietors of the said shipp the ''houter Church'' and of her<br />
tackle apparell and furniture, and soe commonly accompted, and were<br />
and are all very well knowne unto him this deponent, master of the<br />
said vessell

To the second hee deposeth that hee this examinate master of the said<br />
vessell was a ?Rosse in ffrance freighted by Charterpartie by a<br />
ffrenchman whose name hee remembreth not, which Charter partie with<br />
his seabrief and all his letters and papers were taken from him by<br />
Captaine Greene who tooke and seized the said vessell. And saith th[XX]<br />
