Upon the Interrogatories on the behalfe of the said dod<br />

Shipwright aged 30 yeares or there abouts sworne and Examined<br />
deposeth as followeth videlicet./
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee cannot depose./
To the second hee saith hee cannot depose./
To the third Interrogatorie hee saith hee cannot depose./
To the fourth Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth That about foure monthes since<br />
(the time more perfectly and particularly hee doth not remember) the producent<br />
Paul dod desired this deponent to goe along with him to hackney or [?old ?fford] to<br />
the house of the interrogated Captaine William Ashley, which hee accordingly did<br />
and there hee saith hee heard the producent aske the said Ashley for a Shipp<br />
that hee had taken which was the said producents; whereupon the said Ashley<br />
asked the said producent whether his name were not Paule dod, who answeared<br />
yes, and then the said Ashley did acknowledge and confessse in this deponents presence<br />
and heareing that hee had taken such a shipp as the producent demanded, but saith<br />
hee had condemned thesaid shipp in Court according to law, yet notwithstanding<br />
did then tell the producent that hee would meete him att the Mermaid Taverne<br />
in Cornwall (as this deponent remembreth) and treate with him about the<br />
said shipp, which this deponent being by and heareing the premisses so had<br />
and done and otherwise hee cannot depose/

Turner, aged 44 yeares or thereabouts sworne deposeth<br />
as followeth
To the 1. 2. and 3d articles (sic) hee saith hee cannot depose./
To the 4th Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth, that hee this deponent was<br />
requested (about foure monthes since) to goe along with the producent unto<br />
Captaine William Ashley liveing att hackney, and comeing to his house<br />
hee saith the producent (in the presence and heareing of this deponent and at his<br />
premisses) tould the said Captaine Ashley that hee came to demand (and did<br />
demand) his shipp which the said Ashley had taken, upon which the said<br />
Ashley asked him if his name was ?dodd, who answered that his name was<br />
Paule Dodd, and thereupon hee confessed that hee had taken such a shipp and<br />
said I have condemned the said shipp according to the Course of Court or words to that<br />
that effect, yet notwithstanding said hee would give him a meeting and treate about<br />
the said shipp, and did appointe him ?he the said producent to meete him att the<br />
the (sic) said shipp, and did appointe him ?he the said producent to meete him att the<br />
Mermaid Taverne in Cornewall about ?three dayes after And further hee<br />
saith he cannot depose.

Ashley by the space of twelve yeares last past, And equally favoureth the parties litigant<br />
in this Cause and otherwise he answereth negatively.
