aged 24 yeares or thereabouts<br />
sworne before the right worshippfull John<br />
Exton doctor of lawes one of the<br />
Judges of the high Court of Admiralty<br />
and examined upon Interrogatories ministered on the<br />
behalfe of the said Captaine Ellison saith by vertie of<br />
his Oath as followeth
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth<br />
that hee this deponent being Masters second Mate of<br />
the ship the ''Rebecca'' of London (whereof Mr Cooke<br />
was Master) was by the said shipp att Thollone at<br />
such tyme as the shipp the ''Parry'' being taken<br />
by the ffrench was brought in thither and saith that<br />
then and there hee did heare the Interrate William<br />
Avery and the [?Chirurgion] of the said shipp (who was a Mate of the ship the ''Parry''<br />
comeing abord the said shipp the ''Rebecca''<br />
to come home for England divers tymes saie and<br />
affirme to this deponent and others abord the said ship<br />
that the Interrate Captaine Ellison did carry and<br />
behave himselfe Gallantly and stoutly in the said<br />
fight
