voyage soe made by him the said Robbinson … voyage soe made by him the said Robbinson in the <br />
service and imployment of a chirurgeon abord the said shippe <br />
''the Providence'' alias ''the Defiance'' as aforesaid hee hath bin hired<br />
by the arlate Joseph Dobbins he serve abord his ship <br />
''the Peeter'' arlate for and dureing a voyage wich the said <br />
Mr Dobbins made with the said ship from this port of <br />
London to Ireland and soe to Lisbourne about<br />
next Junne wilbee 3. yeares since. Att wich tyme this deponent <br />
(being an Apothecary by proffession) did furnishe his the said<br />
Stephen Robinson chest with medicines and druggs for his <br />
use as surgeon of the [XXX] the said voyage. And saith that hee the said <br />
Robbinson was and is (if yet liveing) a very able and <br />
sufficient Chirurgeon and saith a one as understandith <br />
his profession and busines. reddens racionem scientio<br />
sua ut supra at alr nescit deponere.
Ad deriim arlum dei lili deponit et dicit that the <br />
said William Baker by reason of the said Josephe Dobbins <br />
his not bringing home the said Stephen Robinson arlate with<br />
him from Lisbourne in the said ship ''the Peeter'' according <br />
to the agreement and contract usually in [XXX] made for that purpose <br />
and by reason of this laste of his imployment for and during <br />
the tyme since the arrivealle of this said ship hither and <br />
for his service for his tyme unexpired by Indenture<br />
made betwixt him and the said William Baker and by the <br />
detention and witholding of his the said Robinsons <br />
wages for and dureing for the said voyage and lastly for the losse of his medicines instruments foods and cloaths hee the<br />
said Baker hath as hee this deponent hath verily <br />
believe and is confident hath sufficed damage and <br />
losse to the value of 100 sterling att the least or thereabouts <br />
wich hee soe beleeveth to bee true hee this deponent knoweing,<br />
the said Robinson to bee a forward and very apt young<br />
man in his profession of a chirurgeon and such<br />
a one as had hee bin heere with his master might have<br />
produced much proffitt and advantage unto him. Et alr <br />
nescit deponere.
Ad Interrogatoria/
Ad primum rendet that the Interrogant Robinson was before<br />
his goeing out upon the Imployment in question in the shipp <br />
''the Peeter'' a very sober and carefull young man. Et alr <br />
nescit [?XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX] Joseph Dobbins.
Ad 2um rendet that hee hath heard a flying report that the<br />
interrogant Robinson was married at the tyme when but saith it was <br />
from such as hee confident knewe nothing thereof. Et alr <br />
rendet negative.
