Ad primum arlum [?XXXX XXXX] deponit et dicit that hee well knoweth<br />
the arlate Captaine Robert Clerke, Stephen Rich, William Rigby<br />
William Williamson and Gilbert fforneby, and touching the rest of<br />
the said article re[?XXXXX] the effect of certaine ordinances f Parliamen<br />
and times of their setting out or publication hee referreth himselfe<br />
to the said ordinances, and beleeveth they are to the effect arlated Et<br />
alr nescit .
Ad secundum et tertium et 4 arlos deponit that there was within the time arlate a ffleete of<br />
shipps belonging to Parliament, fitted, prepared and sett out in a<br />
warlike manner to the effect arlate and Captaines constituted and<br />
appointed to goe in and command them by authoritie of Parliament<br />
by which authoritie the said Captaine Clerke was chosen, and constituted<br />
Captaine and Commannder of the shipp the ''Jocelyn'' in the Parliaments<br />
service, and the said Stephen Rich, William Rigby, William Williamson<br />
and Gilbert ffrorneby were likewise by the same authoritie constituted<br />
and appointed Captaines of severall other shipps of the Parliaments<br />
ffleete and in their pay and service, this deponent having seene<br />
most of them commanding severall shipps in the said service, Et<br />
alr nescit referend se ad Ordinances, Commissions<br />
et Instructions arlatas.<br />
