Langley had soe procured the said shippe&l … Langley had soe procured the said shippe<br />
the ''Anne'' nowe called the ''Endeavour'' from<br />
the said Jersey Piratt as aforesaid the<br />
said Purrlaye and Langley the better<br />
to deface the said shippe that she might<br />
not bee knowne againe did as they<br />
beleeve procure the said shippe to bee<br />
lengthened in the keele about five<br />
foote as they beleeve, and alsoe builte a<br />
small peece of a decke with a fewe<br />
deale boards more then she had when<br />
these respondents lost her, And otherwise<br />
for their parts they nor either of them doe<br />
not beleeve the said position to bee true<br />
in any parte thereof.
To the fifth pretensed position they answere<br />
and beleeve that the shippe the ''Anne'' arlate<br />
at such time as these respondents lost her<br />
had in her five gunns and two murtherers<br />
And otherwise for their parts they nor either of<br />
them doe not beleeve the said position to bee<br />
true in any parte thereof.
To the sixt pretended position they answere<br />
and accept the contents of the said position<br />
soe farr forth as the same doeth make for<br />
them and not otherwise, And further<br />
they beleeve that they cannott make<br />
any answere thereunto in regard they<br />
were not present when the said shippe<br />
was taken by Captaine Coxe, and that<br />
since her comeinge into the river of<br />
Thames all her gunns Cables and sayles<br />
and anchors were and are taken from her<br />
and not suffered to bee shewed to these<br />
respondents or their agents whereby they<br />
might be able to discover whether they bee<br />
