I MAURICE STYLE OF EDMONTON in the Countie of Middlesex, Gentleman Sonne and heire of Thomas Styles of Morden in the Countie of Surrey Esquire draper doe conxxxx and make this my last Will and Testament My Soule through my Saviour Jesus Christ his merritts my full hope trust and beleefe is God will receave ffor my body I leave is to be disposed by my Executors The greate shoppe lately devided into Two shopps now in the possession of Robert ffox of his Assignes and scituate in ffanchurche streete in the parish of Saint Dionis Backchurch London with the Rents and profitts of thereof I give and bequeath unto my brother William Style and his heires My greate House in ffanchurche streete London now in the possession of Thomas Adams Esq and also the Little Shopp next the outward doors of the said greate House And also the Two Tenements in Philpott Lane the one in the possession of Edward Seabrooke or his Assignes withall theire appurtenances All which are in the parish of Saint Dionis Backchurch London I give and bequeath unto my loveing and loved freind Anthonie Deering of Wilsborough in the Countie of Kent Gentleman and unto my brother William Style To have and to hold to them and to theire assignes for and during the Terme of theire lives and to the longer liver of them The remainder to the heires of the said William Style in ffee The House in ffanchurche streete att Lime streete and in the parish of Saint Dionis Backchurch now in the possession of Thomas Turges or

His assignes I doe give and bequeath unto my Brother George Style To have and to hold to him and his heires for ever ffor my Brother Thomas Style he will have sufficient enough for him as heire in Tayle to the Land att Edmondton The Lease Rents and profitts of XXXXXX ffarme in Edmonton in Middlesex now in the possession of Martin ?Arpwood I doe give and bequeath unto my said ffreind Anthonie Deering and unto my brother William Style for and during the Terme of the said Leas which is about some nineteene yeares to XXXX I give and bequeath unto my three Sisters Sarah Ann and Margaret Style to each of them ffiftie pounds to be paid by my Executors out of the rents and profitts of the said Lease of Xxphams ffarme unto my Cousin Thomas Butler for theire use All my Goods whatsoever (except readie monie) that are now or shall be (att the tyme of my decease att Mistris Williams her house att the signe of the ffeathers on Ludgate Hill I give and bequeath unto my said ffreind Anthonie Deering All the rest of my Goods Jewells rings plate monie Bonds and Bills my Watch and Horse and Chattells whatsoever my Chests Trunks householdstuffe linnen pewter brasse and all else att Morden in Surrie or elsewhere I give and bequeath unto my said ffreind Anthonie Deering and unto my Brother William Style This is my last Will and Testament made the Nynth day of March in the yeare of our Lord One thousand six hundred ffiftie and Eight And of this my last Will and Testament I doe appoynte ordaine and constitute my said freind Anthony Deering and my said Brother William Style my Executors and the Survivour of them my sole Executor and my meaning is that I make them my Executors for and as concerning my owne perticular Estate I doe ordaine and constitute my loveing kinsman Thomas Butler of Westminster in Middlesex Gentleman my Executor He to have nothing to doe with my particular Estate and for his paines in and about that Estate I doe give and bequeath to him ffiftie pounds to be paid y my Executors Anthonie Deering and William Style within six months provided that he doe take that task upon him within Two months after my decease March nynth One Thousand six hundred ffiftie Eight

THIS WILL WAS PROVED ATT LONDON Y:E EIGHT DAY OF JUNE in the yeare of our Lord God One Thousand Six hundred ffiftie and nyne before the Judges for probate of Wills and granting Administracons lawfully authorized by the oath and in the name of W:m Style the brother of the dec.d and one of the Executors named in the above written last Will and Testament of the deceased as to the said Testators owne particular Estate To whome Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattells and debts of the said deceased was granted and committed as to the same Testators owne Estate only he being first legallie sworne truly and faithfully to administer Power being neverthelesse reserved to make like probate and graunt like Administration to Anthonie Deering the other Executor named in the said Will as to the particular Estate of the said Maurice Style dec:d whensoever he shall come and in legall manner desire the same AND power being alsoe reserved to Thomas Butler of Westminster in the Countie of Middlesex Executor likewise named in the same Will as to the Estate and trust left to him the said Maurice as he was Executor of the Will of Thomas Style his ffather late of Morden in the Countie of Surrey deceased when he shall come and in legall manner desire the same
THIS WILL WAS approved at LONDONY:E TWENTY ffirst day of the said month of June in the yeare of our Lord God One thousand six hundred ffiftie and nyne before the Judges for probate of Wills and graunting Administrations lawfully authorized by oath and in the name of Thomas Butler of Westminster in the Countie of Middlesex Gent the Executor named in the above written last Will and Testament as to the Estate only and trust committed to the said Maurice Style the Executor in and by the Will of Thomas Style his ffather as he was Executor thereof To which said Thomas Butler Administration of soe much onlie of the Estate of the said Maurice as concernes the same Estate and trust left to him in and by the said Will of the said Thomas deceased was graunted and committed he the said Thomas Butler being first legally sworne truly and faythfully to administer the same

Presumably the property in Fenchurch Street bequeathed by Maurice Stile, son of Thomas Stile, SVJS subscriber, was originally the shop of Thomas Stile, merchant of London, which his grandfather mentioned as the place where he died in 1645):
Written 29th December 1645 in the Lodging Chamber of his house in Fanchurch Streete London, where he dyed[1]
Maurice Stile’s grandfather styled himself "merchant." his father styled himself "esquire," andMaurice himself stiled himself "gentleman"
