FOR AS MUCH AS IT IS AGREEABLE TO Christian Profession that Christians should soe settle and dispose of their estates as to preserve love and unity amongst the neerest and dearest relations I John Kendall of the Island of Barbadoes in the parish of S:t Johns being praised be God of perfect and sound memory though some weake of bodie Doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner following

ITEM I give to my deare mother Grace Kendall One Thousand pounds stock to be paid her six monthes after my decease

ITEM I give to my brother Thomas Kendall his daughter One thousand pounds stock to bee put out at interest for her at her day of marriage or at the age of One and Twenty yeares

ITEM I give to John Burston which now liveth with mee One hundred pounds sterling to bee paid him or his order six monethes after my decease

ITEM I give to my brother Cap:t James Kendall all my Interest in Buckland plantation and what Interest or estate I have in Barbados or part of ?Annocita after all my Just Debts paid and funerall charges which I leave to the discretion of M:r John Hethersall and John Burston

ITEM I give to my brother Thomas Kendall all my money or Cash that shall bee in the hands of John and ffrancis Joles M:r Tho: Papillon and John Mead Merch:ts in London or what the estate I have in England provided hee pay the above legacies to my deare mother and his daughter and the One hundred pounds to John Burston I doe leave the management of Buckland Plantation to John Burston till hee hath further instructions from my brother James Kendall and Beniamin Skutt I make my deare Brother Thomas Kendall my sole Executor of this my last Will and testament I doe also constitute and ordaine M:r John Hethersall and John Burston Overseers of thsi my last Will and testament I doe also constitute and ordaine M:r John Hethersall and John Burston Overseers of this my last Will and Testament In witnesse whereof I the said John Kendall have subscribed this my last will and Testament with my owne hand and thereunto put my seale this eighth day of November one thousand six hundred eighty and foure and in the thirty fifth yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord King Charles the second over England xr. John Kendall signed sealed in the presence of us Tho.s Downes Rich:d Downes John XX owning George martin

WHEREAS the words and soe his heires was through mistake left out in that paragraph whereinthe above Testator gave all his estate in Jamaica to his brother Cap:t James Kendall It was further declared by M.r John Kendall the aforesaid Testator that it was his free will meaning and

Intent that his aforesaid loveing brothers (sic) Cap:t James Kendall should hold and enjoy all his estate and plantation in Barbados or America to him and his heires forever. Spoke and declared in the presence of us the eleaventh of November one thousand six hundred eighty foure by M:r John Kendall who is of perfect memory John Hethersall Thomas Townes John ?Parnill Ch:t Xxtrott Rob:t Wilkinson.

BARBADOS. BY HIS EXCELLENCY MEMORANDUM that on the date of these presents personally appeared before mee Thomas Downes Hun.r Richard Downes and John Xxomig and made Oath on the holy Evangelists of Almighty God that they heard M:r John Kendall of the parish of S:t Johns lately deceased declare and publish the annexed writing on the other halfe sheete of paper soe farr as it is signed by him to bee his last Will and Testament as also John Hethersall Esq:r Tho: Downes Jn:e Xernell and Rob:t Wilkinson liekwise appeared before mee and made Oath that the said Kendall also published the underwritten Codicill to the said will to bee part thereof and further all andevery these Depon:ts aforesaid sweare that the said Kendall at his Executeing the said Will and Codicill to the said will to bee part thereof And further all and every these Depon:ts aforesaid sweare that the said Kendall at his Executeing the said Will and Codicill aforesaid hee was of sound minde and perfect memorie to the best of these Depon:ts Judgements given, under my hand the nynth day of December One Thousand six hundred eighty foure Di: Dutton
