Transcription

To the sixth hee saith that in all probabilitie the master and company of
the hope with such help as they should have gotten from shore might
have saved and gott her off and in two or three tides have brought
her up to Gravesend. And otherwise hee cannot depose saving as aforesaid.

To the seaventh hee cannot depose, having bin aboard the
said shipp Hope.

To the eighth hee saith that one of the fishermens ketches with eight
or tenn men might without difficulties have brought the said shipp the
Hope and lading to Gravesend or Graies without the company or
assistance of any others.

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith that the said shipp the ;Hope began this her voyage
from Conincksbergh, and otherwise hee cannot depose saving as
aforesaid.

To the second hee saith that the name of the master of the said shipp hope
is Martin Barnehilde, and otherwise hee cannot depose, hee comming
only passenger in the said shipp.

To the third hee saith that the said shipp was bound to this port here
to discharge, And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving there was clapboard
and oares aboard of his sight.

To the last hee cannot depose./

Rice against the Charitie and Grigg}

Examined upon the foresaid allegation
on the behalfe of [?Rice].

Rp. 6us.

John Hodgson of Wapping in the County of Middlesex
Mariner, aged 42 yeares or thereabouts sworne
and examined.

To the first article hee saith and deposeth that the time articulate the
producents James Cole, and Richard Rice (whom this deponent well knoweth)
and Company, were commonly accompted and reputed the true and lawfull
owners and proprietors of the shipp the Charitie arlate, And otherwise
hee cannot depose.

To the third article hee saith that hee hath well knowne the said shipp
the Charitie for theise foure yeeres last past and upwards, and well
knew her when shee was in the custodie and under the commannd of
the arlate Robert harrigate as master of her, and sawe her under
such his commannd before her seizure on the ffrench coast; and since
such time of her being said to be seized, namely about a yeare
since this deponent sawe her here againe in the river of Thames
