Burr then and there ffactor and Correspondent to and of the said
producent for the producents proper accompt, Whereupon the said shipp
with the goods aforesaid in the moneth of September 1649. in this deponents
sight sett saile from Gravesend designed for Lixbone as aforesaid where
not long afer shee safely arrived and the said Burr received and
disposed of the said goods for the said producents accompt, to whom hee
shortly after such their disposall sent a ffactorie or accompt importing
that hee the said Burr had sold and disposed of the said bayes to the
valew of One Thousand seaven hundred and eleaven pounds or thereabouts
this deponent having severall times seen the said accompt and compared the
firme thereof with severall letters and accompts which hee this deponent hath
from time to time had and received fom the said humphrey Burr upon the
Correspondence which hee hath had and held with him in Merchandizing
affaires, and is thereby assured of the trueth of the oremisses, as also for
that hee this deponent within the time aforesaid saw and observed that
this deponents precontest Gerrard Guy as servant to the said producent
and for and on his name and behoof caused the said goods to be shipped
from the Custome howse kay London to be carried aboard the said shipp
Peter then lying in the River of Thames to the intent and upon the
Designe aforesai, as the said Guy then told and affirmed to this
deponent, And further cannot depose, saving That it is notorious That the
said humphrey Burr since the receipt and disposall of the said goods
hath absented and still doeth absent himself from Lisbone aforesaid, and
beleeveth not nor hath ever heard that the said Burr hath made any
payment or satisfaction to the said producent for the proceed of the goods
aforesaid./
To the 5th hee saith hee referreth himselfe to the Acts and proceedings
in this Court as to the Contents of this Article.
To the 6th hee saith, That the arlate James Bamford deceased late Master of
the shipp th Josuah arlate and Peter Tatam deceased late Master of
the shipp hanniball have in their respective lifetimes confessed and
acknowledged that the said humphrey Burr was part Owner in and
of their said respective shipps And further hee cannot depose
To the last hee saith his foregoing deposition is true./
