Transcription

three bills of lading of one and the same Tenor for the tobaccoes now claimed
hee (sic) whereof he delivered to the said William Crombeen the Lader and the third
hee kept in his owne hands And otherwise hee cannot depose./

To the 21th hee saith That hee verely beleeveth and is perswaded in his conscience
that the bill of lading annexed to the said allegation and showed unto him as aforesaid
is one of the three bills of lading which the said Cloppenbergh signed for the said
Tobaccoes att Cadiz And otherwise he cannot depose./

To the 22th hee saith That the said bill of lading exhibited into this
Court now shewed him as aforesaid was brought hither by the said William
Crombeen who came into England since the seisure of the shipp Salvadore
And saith he beleeveth the same came not through Holland or by the meanes of
any dutch men And otherwise saveing his foregoeing depositions to which hee
referreth himself he cannot depose./

The 27th of March 1652 upon the aforesaid
Allegation/

Manuell Corea of Verguas in the West Indies Merchant
aged 34 yeares or thereabouts a wittnes sworne and Examined
deposeth as followeth./

To the first article of the said Allegation hee saith and deposeth That
William Crombeen the Brother of the said producent did att Marachao
in the West Indies within the yeare 1652 arlate buy the number of sixtie and one
potaccoes of Tobaccoe, and brought the same from thence in the shipp the
Nostra Seigniora da Rosario unto Cadiz aforesaid, And saith that in or about the
moneth of October 1652 aforesaid hee the said William Crombeen did take the
said 61 potaccoes of Tobaccoe out of the said shipp the Nostra Seigniora and laded
the same on board the Salvadore arlate for the Accompt of the said Nicholas
Crombeen to be transported to Ostend and there to be delivered to him or his
Assignes, And saith that 60ty potaccoes thereof were without marke and one

potaccoe of the marke in the margentt which hee knoweth for that hee came
along with the said William Crombeen from Marachao as aforesaid where hee did see
him buy the said Tobaccoes which hee afterwards laded aboard the shipp
the Salvadore att Cadiz of this deponents sight and knowledge And otherwise hee
cannot depose./

To the second article hee saith That hee this deponent was by and present
when the said Christian Cloppenbergh the Master of the said shipp the
Salvadore did signe the schedule or bill or lading arlate for the
receipt and delivery of the said tobaccoe att Ostend for the Accompt of the
said producent according as is conteyned in the said bill of lading which
he saith is true and reall and so hhad and done, before the said shipps
departure from Cadiz without any fraud or deceipt otherwise cannot depose
