Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Fifty-nine year old Thomas Miller deposed on August 9th 1654 in the High Court of Admiralty, He was examined "On the behalfe of Captaine John Lynes late commander of the shipp the Sampson of London".[2]
In May 1649 Thomas Miller was master of the Sampson of London, reporting to Captaine John Lynes, the commander of the same ship. The ship was at Bahia in Brazil, where on May 9th 1649 the ship was seized , together with her lading of sugars, on the authority of the King of Portugal.[3]
