IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN: I John Maynard of the Island of Barbados marchant being weake in body but in perfect memory blessed be god I doe first of all bequeath my soule into the hamds of Allmightie god who first gave it me And my body to the earth from whence it came expecting a ioyfull resurrection
ITEM my will is that my body be decently buried, and my funerall charges and expences be first paid
ITEM I give to my Mother ffrancis Gibbons thirty pounds sterling money
ITEM I give unto my brother William Maynard tenn pounds sterling money
ITEM I give unto my brother Abraham Maynard tenn pounds sterling money
ITEM I give unto my Aunt Barbara Clark tenn pounds sterling money, And to her three eldest children six pounds a peece sterling money
ITEM I give into M:r Henry ?Harvey ten pounds sterling money
ITEM I give unto Sarah Stanismore ffifty pounds sterling money
ITEM I give unto my cosine William Henley five pounds sterling money
ITEM I give unto my Cosine Nicholas ffowler five pounds sterling money
ITEM my will is that my wellbeloved brother Nathaniell Collier Grocer liveing at the Shippard and Dogg in Southwark neere London Bridge be my sole Executor of this my last will and testament Revokeing all former wills whatsoever and it is my will that my Executor shall within the space of one whole yeare after the

ITEM my will is that M:r Henry ?Harvey now resident in the Island of Barbados be Overseer of that Plantation and eleven servants belonging unto it, by names Daniell Greene William ?XXfeild John Phillipps William Heale Richard Stricker John Rowland George Moodes Henry Bainard Nathaniell Babey Thomas Clarke John Rider, and fower ??Assandyes being three horses and one mare wherein my selfe and Thomas Bedell of London Lynnen draper liveing South Warke are Joynt partners in it now lying and adioyning unto the Land of M:r Henry Harvey in S:t James parish conteyning the six and twenty acres of land ?fullen and unfullen
ITEM my will is that M:r Richard Gregorie M:r William Eastchurch M:r William Johnson and M:r John Thornell be my Overseers of all such goods and debts as I have in the Barbados of my owne or any other that hath imployed me And that they receive them and take them into their custodie and give a iust accompt of them unto those to whome they appertaine the Plantation servants and Asanderes before mentonned onely excepted, which is to remaine to M:r Henry Harvey And for their paines and Oversite to take such provision as the Ciustome of the Cuntry allowes, And further my will is that the aforesaid Overseers doe shipp home such goods as they can receive by the first convenience to such persons as they concerne which will appeare in my bookes And further it is my will that my all much weareing apparrell both lynnen and wollen I give unto M:rs Anne Harvey,
And this I publish as my last will and testament given under my hand and seale this sixt day of September One thousand six hundred forty eight, the word eldest was enterlyned before sealeing and delivery
